Make sure the 8 pin is in the purple connector not the blue, if using a USB keyboard plug it into the USB slot directly to the right of the DVI connector. If it still fails, remove the power cord from the PC then remove the battery for 1 minute. All else fails, motherboard is dead.
Ps. Prove both keyboards work on another PC first.
I use a microsd to load files that i havent tried on the device before, to test safely. If it crashes then i can simply remove the microsd and clear it. If the "bad" or incorrecly encoded files are loaded onto the internal memory of the device then you will be unable to clear or bypass the "building library" stage and the device is bricked. Take it back to where you bought it and get it replaced if this happens, that's what I had to do when I bricked it.
Maybe we all need to write to iriver and request much improved firmware that allows wiping of the internal memory BEFORE the build library stage as well as the option to disable or an improvement of the "build library" functionality. A simple solution would be to set a flag in a config file whenever files are added to the device and it doesnt do a build library unless the config flag says new files are present and that it is required.
FIrst make sure you have the latest drivers downloaded. Then turn on phone first, Then plug in to cord. Screen may show black pic when connected to pc.
I have no charge in my philips hdd82 player. Usually I just plug it into my computer via usb and a screen shows up on the player showing its connected and it charges. Usually it comes up as an MTP device on the computer so I can add mp3s as well. Now for no reason at all, when I plug it in, it doesn't charge and the computer doesn't recognize it. The screen shows an outlet when I plug it in so I know the cord works. It just won't let me do anything. When I press the on button with the cord unplugged, I can't do anything either b/c no charge. HELP. plz.
