If the oil plug bolt is leaking you need a new aluminum sealing washer. There are no oil weep holes in the front of the motor. Is it the weep hole under the water pump? You probably have a bad water pump seal or a bad oil seal on the water pump shaft. Buy a new water pump and the K&L water pump gasket kit. The K&L gasket kit comes with all the gaskets, seals, and washers necessary to do the water pump replacement for a fraction of the cost of the OEM Honda individual gaskets, seals, and washers.

Models s 540 leaking oil on front of plate under the flywheel between to front bolts there is a small hole, machined hole about 1/8 diameter oil coming out this hole while running

Check your oil/fluid levels, engine and transmission, most likely a oil seal is leaking. A weeping hole, water pumps have them, old mechanical fuel pumps had them

Loss of power shaky acceleration

Your PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) there is an oil trap and associated hoses on the front of the engine. It runs from under the spark plug wire cover down beneath the starter (the oil trap is located here). Typically, the system plugs up and dries out. You need to remove the trap and hoses and clean the holes out beneath the trap which drain into the oil pan. I used a small brush and a bent coat hanger. I also drained the oil (needed to be changed anyway) and sprayed some sea foam down there to loosen things up and then blew it out with rubber hose with compressed air. It worked well. Pay special attention to cleaning out the bottom hole because this is where it gets clogged the most. The parts cost about $150 or so.

Oil change in a 1986 chevy nova

Very easy on this car. You don't even need to put the car up if you're not a big person. Remove the oil fill cap on the valve cover the warm and off engine. Unbolt the oil pan drain bolt at the bottom (don't lose the gasket) and let the oil drain out. Clean off bolt hole face and put the gasket and bolt back on. Bolt does not need much torque. Unscrew the oil filter on the front of the engine (might need filter wrench). Clean off filter face and make sure old gasket is removed (usually comes off with the filter). Put on new filter. Do not overtighten

While underneath, look around for leaks, damage to CV joint boots, cracks in hoses, etc.

Fill with about 3.5 qt 10-30W oil. Put oil fill cap back on. Run engine for about 30 sec. Shut off and check for leaks. Check oil level on dipstick after a couple minutes of engine running and add oil if needed.

Mark date and odometer in your log book. Recycle used oil.

1998 Chevy Malibu is using excessive oil. Had an oil change done back in October 2012 . Then checked Oil level in December of 2012 and was about 3/4 low in oil! why ?

first thing check make sure oil pan drain plug tight. check make sure oil filter tight. try tighten oil filter by hand see if turn tighten oil filter clockwise direcction if all is good. how many miles on vechicle.could have oil leaks park vechicle in spot that clean.move vechicle see if you see oil spots on ground if yes.your front timing cover seal leaking oil or rear main oil seal ;eaking.or valve cover gaskets leaking.if find no oil leaks more likely engine burning oil.replace pcv valve.check air filter if you see oil in air filter housing either have bad pcv valve or pcv not getting vacuum make sure pcv valve getting vacuum when engine running vacuum should be felt at pcv if not pcv valve bad or pcv hose disconnected broken or plugged.if pcv valve okay engine has worn piston rings.worn valve seals or guides or oil return holes stopped up thats all possible reasons for engine burning oil.if spark plugs oil fouled engine burning oil.

I added oil to my Cadillac and it drained onto the ground

Before adding any more oil, make sure that you have securly replaced and tightened the oil drain plug (which is located on your engine's oil pan, under your car).

How do I change oil?

Get a drain container to fit under car that will hold more than 4litres of oil.
Drain hole is under front of car on bottom of engine on oil pan.
Remove plug,  allow to drain, inspect the brass washer and file smooth both sides if necessary or sand it, if a plastic washer inspect and replace if necessary.  Be careful not to strip nut upon replacing. Don't overtighten, but a bit more than snug!

5w30 oil typically for all overhead cam engines newer than 1992

Do not mix different oils, eg: 5w30 and 10w30.
Do not use synthetic if not a fresh rebuild or not currently used.

** Slick 50 is an oil additive that puts a teflon coating on your engine parts and I swear by it.
Do not overfill engine - put 3 litres in and allow to run down and check dipstick.
When replacing oil filter be sure rubber seal doesn't stay on engine block.  Fill new filter half-full with new oil and put oil on rubber seal and clean surface of engine where oil goes in.
After filling engine, start and look for leaks.  If you cleaned everything you will notice leak easily.
Shouldn't be a problem unless you messed up seal on filter by not following these directions.
Check with your manual for proper type of oil but should be 5w30.
Good luck.

How do you change the oil

go under the car..if u cant go inside( jus kiddin :p) lift the front part of the car with a jack!!make sure u keep some support at the rear end to stop the movement.Remove the bolt provided at the bottom of the your car..Do this process very fast dude cause oil leaks spontaneously from this.....make sure your car s not hot by that time.now ur car's front position must be in raised .....so now lower the jack so that oil sqeezes out.....now look for a small can..it s the oil filter.Just remove the oil filter.now look into ur oil filter u ll find some gasket around it inside.take it out...use the oil u drained out to wet the gasket and re fit it in the slot!!now screw the new oil filter on to the car(if new). the car u ve usually ve 4 quarts of oil i guess...fill 3.5 quarts of oil and start the engine.now tighten the plug....check for the leaks......make proper adjustments.... thats it....
