Music seconds dont start counting and theres no sound!

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

My philips gogear wont turn on

Disconnect the GoGear from the computer
Reset it first (pinhole in back - safety pins work best), even if nothing happens - just to be on the safe side
Nothing will happen still, but we are OK
Make sure the power is off, and hold in the volume + button, reconnect the GoGear to the computer while holding in the volume + button, and continue holding volume + until a window pops us saying Found New Hardware Wizard
Go through the Found New Hardware Wizard, and the GoGear should be working again - the player will be revived

Write me back if this fails to resolve the problem.

On my philips HDD082 MP3 Player

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Philips mp3 play isnt working

WARNING!! THERE IS NO WAY TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WITHOUT LOSING ALL OF YUOR SAVED MUSIC. I reread my instruction manual, and it says to hold down the power button and the volume button at the same time. This will cause a shut down/immediate reset. Your MP3 should come back on in a few seconds. When I did this, I had alrealy lost all of my music, so that part didn't really matter. (By the way, I never have gotten my music back, even though the 'My Computer' function on my PC tells me it's still there, when I disconnect from the USB and try to access it, there's nothing there.)
