Yes, you can change your computer from windows 7 to Vista as long as you have a Vista disc and your computer has a CD drive or if you have the windows Vista OS on a flash drive.

If this is a brand new computer I suggest to call your computer manufacturer, the store where you bought it or their customer service first before changing your OS for warranty details co'z some computer company will void warranty once OS was change.

Hi and welcome to fixya,

I don't think Vista can be installed under Windows 7 since it will detect that you are using a newer Windows version as your current Windows OS. However, you can still install Vista as your New OS by installing during bootup. Load your computer with the Vista disk on the tray, press F11 to activate the bootup selection and choose the DVD Drive or "press any key to bootup using dvd"...

I'd still recommend Windows 7 over vista. Get the Windows 7 professional or ultimate. It works wonders and a far better operating system than Vista.

I just built a computer with 16Gb of DDR2 RAM. What OS should I put on this baby so that I can actually USE all 16GB of RAM? I was going to go with 2008 Server but someone told me Windows 7 would support...

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya.

Wow, 16gigs of RAM... thats alot!
Well, for you to be able to get full use of your 16gigs ram. You need to be using a 64BIT OS. Windows Vista and Windows 7 has 64bit versions. The main problem that you will encounter with using 64bit OS is driver compatibility with your devices. Hopefully all your components have 64bit drivers. I hope this helps.

Thanks and have a nice day.
