How do you change the small daytime driving light on a 2001 vw cabrio

WHEN THIS CAR HAS AN AIR LEAK AT THE INPUT IT SHUTS OFF!!CHECK FOR LEAKS AT THE INPUT MANIFOLD AND REPLACE BROKEN PARTS IT WILL BE OK!!THEN TAKE IT TO THE GARAGE AND RESET THE MIL LIGHT.TEST DRIVE AND CHECK FOR FURTHER DTCS!!!

you need to pull away the hard cloth trim in the corners to get to the back of the light clusters.take out the floor carpet first to be able to get purchase.

Make sure there was enough oil put in and that it is not leaking through the oil drain plug or the oil filter.

have you replace the fuel filter???

It has to be "phosphate free", and should say so on the label. It may come in a few different colors, but probably not green.

Changing headlights on VW Cabrio I just changed the headlights on my roommate's 2002 Cabrio, but I followed the instructions given for a 2001. What you have to do is: 1. Move the metal wire holding the black cover to the side and remove the black cover. 2. Remove the power cord from the bulb itself and push to the side. 3. You will see a pin holding the headlight in. Squeeze the pin (you want to squeeze closer to the top of the pin, which is the closed end; don't squeeze the open ends because all you will do is get irritated and hurt your fingers), then push it back and down. What this will do is move the pin away and then out from those little metal tabs that its going through. One side will pop out, then the other. When you get it out, the pin should be standing up, with the closed end pointing up. You can then remove the bulb and replace. Popping the pin back in is a heck of a lot easier than getting it out! I was able to remove the cover, but I got totally stumped on the pin. I hope this helps you out, it may be a little confusing but its kind of difficult to describe. Maybe this will at least point you in the right direction!

I'm dealing with the same car. I just had the transmission completely overhauled. Very$$$. The mechanic told me that it's common for cabrio's to develop this problem between 80,000 and 100,000 miles, mine happened around 95,000 miles. Knowing what I know now, I would have sold it.

Have you checked or replaced the water temp sensor ? Also check the connection to the sensor for rust or corrosion

its a messageboard, so you have to find the vw classifieds, and then cabrio.

I would look to see if the anti-theft light is on next to the door lock. A 95 cabrio did this when I was test driving it. All we did was get out of the vehicle and manual lock and unlock the car, then it went away. This could definitely be more complicated than this, but always worth a try.
