No connection available wired or wireless. I have a WRT160N that has been in my house for a couple years now working fine. As of this morning, we lost internet connections on all of our wired and wireless computers. I tried connecting my desktop directly to the modem and was able to get internet fine. As soon as I try to add in the router, the internet goes out again. I have tried returning it to factory defaults and have also done a hard reset by holding the reset button on the back for over 30 seconds and neither have worked. I upgraded the firmware too also to no success.

I wouldn't waste anymore time on trying to fix it - after two years of use get another one but NOT a Linksys. I'd get a Netgear.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the help. Appreciate the quick response. My general experience with linksys has been pretty bad. Looking for something with great range."

I can not make a wireless connection from my laptop. The icon shows network available and my other hardwired computer is ok. I have disable my firewalls but still no connection.

Since you have not given what version of windows you are using, i am giving a generic step to test where the issue is. Please connect this computer directly to the router or the DSL/Cable modem you have and check if it is working fine with internet. If it is working then the issue is not with your firewall or setting. If it is not working even by directly connecting with a wire, then the issue could be with a firewall

Check the IP address on the Vista wireless network connection. Make sure that there is not static IP address on the wireless connection. That could be one of the reason.

Is there any computer connected to the router ?
If not then connect the computer to the router. If you are connecting a wireless computer then disable the wireless connection on the computer. open the set up page of the router. change the wireless network name to something different that you never used before. change the standard channel to 11. save the settings. Try to connect to the wireless network. Check if you see the new network name ? If you see the new then try t connect and see if that works.
This router WRT160N has issues with the firmware.
Upgrade the firmware of the router. power cycle the router.

Cannot connect anymore

Does the router work with the wired port connection? It's entirely possible that the router just went belly-up on you ...Linksys is an awesome brand, but sometimes it happens.

If the wired part works, the wireless transmitter inside may have gone bad. Best to just get a new one for about $50 ...but keep the old one in case you need a wired connection somewhere else around the house :)
