Denon DN-SC2000 MIDI CONTROLLER DJ MIXER Logo
Posted on Jan 29, 2011

Dear Sir, I have recently acquired my new 2X DN-SC2000 midi controllers. All excited, I hooked them up to my Macbook, started my TraktorPro, imported the .tsi for 2 players, and started playing. Everything worked well. After trying all the controls, to see what they do, I kept on playing for another 20 minutes or so, until one of the controllers became unresponsive. I quit Traktor, disconnected the controllers and decided to try different USB cables. When I connected the first one (the one that still works....) the first button that lights up, is the CUE1, and flashes until all the other lights go on ...... When I connected the second one (the one that doesn't work....), it is NOT the CUE1-button that starts flashing, but the CUE3. After that, all the buttons light up, like normal. When I push DECK CHG, it changes color, when I push SHIFT+VINYL, the light under the JOG-WHEEL goes on (like normal)..... So, all in all, it seems to work fine BUT ..... ..... Traktor doen't respond to any of the controls ! I can see, however, the CTRL-light in Traktor (the one in the top of the screen, next to AUDIO and CPU and CLOCK ) respond to any control-button that I push. I went to the settings window in Traktor : Controller-Manager .... and tried to edit the simplest of the MIDI-mappings: the PLAY-PAUSE ..... I high-lighted the function, pushed ''learn'' .... and pushed the PLAY-PAUSE button on the controller..... closed the settings-window .... loaded a song in the player, with the mouse ..... and pushed PLAY. It worked ..... Does this mean that I have to manually re-program all the MIDI-Mappings for all the buttons or is there another way to fix this problem (.... firmware update or something else ... ) ?????? I have already tried this: - downloaded the .tsi from your website again and reloaded it into Traktor. - changed USB-cables (about 20 times ... eliminating faulty cables) - restored, from backup, my old Native Instruments - Folder (in Documents..) from before I first tried the controllers - changed USB-port on my MacBook - loaded the other .tsi (4 decks) - disconnected everything else from the computer except the faulty controller and nothing worked!! PLEASE HELP!!! I have a ''gig'' on wednesday, and would like to use my ''New'' controllers.... Thank you, Onno Boomstra.

The problem with the DN-SC2000 is the firmware. It is being re-written and should be released soon.

Backup sr16 to another sr16

You can send the current patches and programs along with your songs and sequences via MIDI cable from one to the other. Done it many times using a MIDI thing called SYSEX dumps.

You have to hook the MIDI OUT of the unit you want to duplicate to the MIDI IN of the new machine.

Go through the SYSTEM menu and there is a menu item for SYSEX DUMP. Select that and hit the enter and the new one will receive the dump. Both of them will be programmed identically.

I need a reasonably priced audio interface to use with a remote synth and a MacBook (Garage Band). Any ideas?

I would go for getting someone else to record at studio, means they have all the professional ideas to bring to the table, solve problems, but if your just playing around in home a small focusrite 2/2 should do you, with 2 inputs for left and right mono from desk, or also dual linking in two separate channels via xlr.

Why are the Keys on my axiom pro 61 not sending MIDI messages?

Does your keyboard have a "MIDI OUT" port? If yes, then
there is a selection to choose between USB or MIDI OUT port.
For my M-AUDIO oxygen 61 (silver), I must press the [Advanced] button then Note F3 on the music keys manual to toggle the MIDI-OUT.
If set to INT, it will not sent via USB. If set to USB it will not send via MIDI-OUT port. To use MIDI-OUT port I need external 12V DC adapter.

How to connect denon sc2000 to external speakers

As far as I know you can't. You'd have to connect it to a mixer or USB device and use the MAIN OUT (or equivalent) on either of those to connect to external speakers. The denon sc2000 isn't meant to be something you'd use to listen, more to route and control.

I recently upgraded my operating system (to Mac OSX 10.6) and now my VCI-100 won't show up as a device. Any advice on how to resolve this?

Here is an online manual, Can't download it, though. Hope it helps.

Hello guys, i have a problem with my midi keyboard. My PC doesn't recognize the USB connection and i can't find any solution.

Well first start by verifying USB port works by plugging in a hard drive or something thus proving you have a good port and USB Cable. At which point hook the keyboard up ( and make sure to properly install drivers provided on cd with purchase) being a pc this may take several attempts to install. What software are you trying to control? Reason? Logic? Fruityloops?

My denon DN-MC6000 is not responding at all to any of the parameters on virtual dj... i was working at first then i upgraded my software... i have checked the firmware and tried going back to the old...

Hi,

please turn on your denon device and then press and hold the following combination of buttons: back+fwd+ (cf mode) . Now, you can turn on your device and (after 4 seconds) release the previous buttons you were pressing/holding. You should see the option to default settings appear on the screen. Once selected, your device should restart. For more details, please check page 21 of your device's service man ual.

Thank you.

Can't get Casio CTK 601 / 611 to function as MIDI Contrller

I'm not at home right now where all my manuals are so I'll try to explain with out. You will have to set it so that the keyboard is the slave device. Try setting it to Omni receive. It has to be able to listen for all midi channels at once. You have to write a sequence on your computer and hook it to your keyboard by using midi out on the computer to midi in on the keyboard in order for you to use the computer as a controller. If you need the keyboard to create the sequences then you have to hook the midi send on the keyboard to the midi in on the computer play/enter your notes into individual tracks in your software then assign channels, voices etc to each track and save the sequence. Then when you hook it up the other way the sequence will play just like an audio recording except the sound w2on't be there. What you have recorded by creating a sequence is a series of midi messages that the keyboard will receive if you have it set properly and hooked up ptroperly which it will translate into sound. This is a minimalist explanation at best. You will have to have a better understanding of not only your keyboard but also your software and midi in general. There are some pretty amazing things you can do with midi. For instance if you have a lighting controller that is midi capable you can i,mbed all the lighting scene changes for your song in order on one track. You can also control your guitar effects pedal to change effects automatically while your playing. Once you get a handle on it you are only limited by your imagination and your budget. Hope this helps in some way.
