Acer aspire e500, it will not boot up. one led work.(middle "CD")
Hello,
Does it display the boot screen?
Do you hear a buzzer or a beeper go off inside?
Sometimes a boot can be stopped by the ram, this is generally made visable by a buzzer or a beeper going off, this will stop the computer to prevent damage.
If it is this, you can get a new ram for about £20, pc world etc, and if you keep the packaging in good condition, you can return it, and just say it didnt work, so you dont loose anything, but youd need to put it in your self, you just unplug the computer, take off the cover, release the ram clips, take the old ram out, and replace it with the new one.
2) Another weird thing which can stop the boot is the ....DVD drive.
I had the same problem before with one of my clients, and for some strange reason, when I removed the DVD player, the computer booted.
So try un connecting your DVD drives, and then try booting
3) Are there any sensors or buttons on the case?
Some PC's have sensors and buttons on the case, with cut of the power if you take the cover off while its running.
It could be that there is a button or a sensor not coming in contact with its connector, and therefore, preventing the computer to boot up.
I hope this helps you,
Jake
Have done this, it is turned on. The power switch at the front does not feel like it is connecting with a switch or whatever it is behind it.
