I do not see any inputs to connect a subwoofer to my Onkyo A-9555 integrated amp. I would like to know if it is possible to connect it and what kind of subwoofer should I buy for that wit the best performance. Thanks, Olimpio from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

You amp has no OUTputs for a sub, but if you really want to attach a sub you'll need to get one that is self-amplified and accepts >>>stereo<<< High Level or Speaker Level inputs.

Otherwise your amp's volume control won't also control the sub's volume.

You would feed it full-range audio from the speaker terminals on your amp and its internal amp would use that to develop its own power output for the sub.

Here's one example.

How do i connect subwoofer (canton movie 125 mx) to amplifier(onkyo txnr609)? there is one subwoofer output on the amplifier with either L & R(mono) high level input or L & R(mono) low level input...

Connect front the sub out (single) on the amp to one of the rca inputs on the sub, This will work reasonably well but to make the most from the sub buy a 2 rca to 1 rca cable and use it to connect both rca inputs on the sub to the single output on the amp

Fuse type for onkyo a-9555

The main power fuse for most amplifiers is a fast blow, 125 volt fuse for the US and a 250v fuse in countries with 220v. This unit is 125 watt so the main fuse should be 2 amps or so. The correct fuse size is written on the circuit board next to where the internal fuse was located.

It has this terrible hiss/chatting noise from both channels even during low volume!” The noise(almost like a howling) come out when the unit become warm

hi,
check the power supply inside ur amplifier may be there is some dry soldering. or the tone control side have some problem. check tone ics +and - supply rail, it should be 15v at pin 8 and 4. also check the input selector ic for any dry soldering.

Can i play only 2 speakers throuh my surrond onkyo amp?

Of course you can use 2 speakers with your Onkyo assuming you will not hear the surround effect. Just connect your speakers at Speakers A terminals and go on.

ONKYO HT 502

Protection mode is engaged when a problem is detected internally. Unless you have crossed the speaker wires, the problem is likely to be a defective component or two inside the amp. This is a relatively common fault for all amplifers at one time or another. The typical cause is shorted output transistors. These parts cost anywhere from $5-$15 each and are replaced in pairs. The best thing to do here is to get a detailed repair estimate from a local repair shop ($50 or so) and report the results here. We should be able to walk you through the actual repair with that info in hand. Dan

Amp protection circuit has been activated

sometimes the protection circuit will enable because of a bad speaker i would suggest taking the load off of it by removing the speaker wires and turning it back on. if it stays on take an ohm meter and check the speakers should be between 2-4 ohms load.

Remove terminal caps

They should just plug into the ends of the caps without any modification as this quote from the features section of the manual implies...
