Hotpoint ultima wt741p is showing F:01 on the display screen when the machine starts up -the machine starts but no water comes through and the drum stays idle - any advice please ????

It is possible the motor start capacitor has failed. Unless you know how to test it, call a service person.

The main panel logic board is not going through its cycles.

the belt has come off or broken on the back take lid or back panel off and have a look

F05 means water level switch jammed on full.
Remove lower rear cover of washer.
Locate and remove large black hose fastened to bottom of drum.
Remove and clean plastic filter inside hose.
Reassemble and test.

F01: Aquarius and Ultima models may show this. It could be a faulty motor or motor control board. The motor tachometer could also be faulty. Some machines have a little rotating magnet and sensor, and the magnet can become detached (not sure about these though on this model). NOTE: if this code is not constant, and tending to come up during spin, check the drive belt for wear or slack, and check the motor brushes.

Error code F05 indicates pressure switch jammed on full.
Remove lower rear panel of washer.
Remove large black hose on bottom of drum.
Remove and clean filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.

Make sure there is no water in drum before you start.

It sounds as though the pump is not draining the water out.
If you have checked outlet pipe and it is clear, then you need to check the filter, if there is no filter at front of m/c, then remove the rear panel, and unfasten the large black hose that goes to bottom of drum, remove filter and clean, check pump at same time.
Watch out for water from the drum.
Refit filter and hose and test.

Try the following, may work:

1. Press the Start/Cancel button together until all the console Led's illuminate
2. Press both Start/Cancel and On/Off buttons together until 'd off' appears
3. Default screen should return and you can select a new programme

Lower the outlet hose into a low bowl, if water flows then you need a new pump cost around 20 pound to buy, If no water comes out the you have a blockage somewhere.
