This kind of problem is mostly associated with cards that have been used previously or that have had some sort of formatting before.
The problem you are encountering is this, the card is full with system files that are mostly hidden. Majority of these files are usually log files that keep a record of all the activities the card might have undergone since it began usage.
The only thing you can do to solve this problem is to format the card suing your computer. Formatting the card would help you get rid of previously existing log files and would free up space for new pictures to be stored.
If this doesn't solve your problem, then you may be having a faulty card.
Let me know if you need any assistance with formatting your card.

It says "memory full". I have a 512 mb memory card and have only taken 48 pictures.

It could be full especially if the images are stored at a very high resolution.

Camera works oddly..

Format the card again.

The memory card should be formatted each time you finish transferring your pictures to your computer, in order to avoid exactly this type of situation.

Why does it keep saying memory full after I have only taken 6 pictures

You need to go to the store and buy Samsung S730 A-DATA 4GB SDHC Memory Card (Class 4)
It is worth about 8-20$. The memory card is used to save pictures. Here is an example: http://www.cellularfactory.com/camera/SAMSUNG/3/46100/

Screen reads "memory card is

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My jpeg pictures are too big. When I go to edit the pictures they are way to big to even fit on the screen

You haven't said what program you are using.
pics, especially ones taken by SLR cameras and others with a large megapixel value are very large. You really need a good picture manipulation program such as Photoshop Elements to edit them. This type of program will allow you to edit them in less than full size.

Thesd memory card keeps telling me it is full but haven't taken any pictures

Format the card if you have not already done so.
Is your card compatible with your camera - not all cards are necessarily compatible with all cameras.

Screen not showing subject to be taken, camera wiil flash but no picture is taken, screen will show pics that are stored on card. Camera fugifilm finepix f700 Regards peter

Hi
Try taking the pictures off the card, by copying onto your computer first. Then put the card back into the camera and delete the pictures and try again. Not sure, but sounds like the card could be full. Or alternatively use another card that does not have any pictures on it, if you have a spare one.

Can't playback pictures

Try formatting the memory card in your camera. Search the camera's menus to find the option that lets you do a "Full" or "Low Level" format, and NOT a "quick" format.
