The power supply finally died due to bad caps. See my pictures here:

Make sure to replace them in a set.

Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/ he can make you a set of caps for you.

Or www.digikey.com just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

Hello,
Having to power cycle a monitor multiple times before the picture appears is a common symptom of a failing power supply. Here is a link to a repair guide with pictures and videos showing how to dis-assemble the VX2235wm and then what to look for and replace to repair the power supply board and get your monitor back running again.

I replaced the video board on viewsonic vx2235wm-5 now video turns on then off

That is a power supply problem not a video board problem. You will need to either rebuild or replace the power supply to fix that problem.

No power to vx2235wm. How can I fix it?

Black screens or no pictures are usually caused by a failure in the back light power supply. Many times the monitor is working but with the back lights not turning on you can't see the display. Here is a link to a repair guide that will show you how to open the unit and what to look for and replace to rebuild the power supply and bring the unit back to life.

The short answer is no, becuase by time you pay the $50 for the backlight, and $75/hour for the tech to fix it, you can buy another 22inch for the same price and have a 5 year warrinty.

Just started flicker today, I've had this monitor for at least 2yrs and no issues ever. VX2235wm and used ALL the time.

The problem is in the power supply / inverter board, commonly caused by bulging capacitors at the top, "indicating they are open" the capacitors will need to be replaced to correct the issue.

"Lines" or irregularities through the monitor image display

Check power supply section for bad caps with bulging top first, may be a sign of failing power supply: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Viewsonic%20VX2235W/

Monitor shows on receiving signal, will not display image.

Hello,

The Viewsonic VX2235WM has a known issue with the power supply going out. The flashing power light or no picture is the classic symptoms of this issue. Check out our web site at: www.ccl-la.com. We have a step by step repair guide posted that will guide to doing the repair yourself. It involves changing a few capacitors on the power supply. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. If you don't want to do the repair we do offer a repair service for $35 plus return shipping. If you have any additional questions just let us know at: [email protected]

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Moniter flips out after it warms up

I repaired my VX2235WM that wouldn't turn the display on anymore (would accept a video signal for a PC, but no image would be shown) by replacing 5 stressed electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board.

Viewsonic VX2235wm Horizontal Image Problem

Tricky one. Have you tried using different dispay resolutions from your Windows Display Control Panel?
ie 1200x1014, 1600x1400, etc.

When you say you used the manual adjust, do you mean the horizontal sync option?

Did you perform a Settings Recall?

And most monitors have a way of entering into an engineering "Factory Service Menu". Usually by depressing specific buttons while the monitor is OFF, and then pressing the power button while still holding the others. Then let all button go at once. From there, hit the normal button that you use for getting into the OSD. In the OSD, there's usually a new field with all kinds of cool new settings to play with. One of them being a soft reset. You'll have to search the net for how to enter into your Factory service menu.

Oh wait! I know!
If your picture has moved to the right, move yourself accordingly.
So that now you and your picture will be aligned properly.

He he he...
Kidding!
That one was from ViewSonic customer support.
