Have a new computer with windows 7 the dongle of the Viking 1 husqvarna customizing embroidery system is not recognized. Had to install an adaptor for the 25 pin to a usb port. Husqvarna says to buy new! They are not user friendly, can you give me a how to frix this? Thank you

    tried this solution. I got this message: error code: 305 501 1053. Then is said download completed, so I went to the old customizing software. I'm still getting: no dongle attached can't complete .

    now what?

You need to download the updated Windows 7 drivers from Pfaff. Husqvarna doesn't support Windows 7, but these guys do.

The third heading down under "Useful Software" (under the photo) is

"HASP Dongle Drivers"

-Try downloading this driver. It should fix your issue.

    The only solution I have is for you to uninstall your embroidery software and unplug your dongle. THEN install the drivers. Then reinstall your software and connect your dongle.

If you don't have a dongle the program will not open. If you do have it, you may need the driver updates for your computer. Lastly the 3D program only works on some operating systems. I think windows 95 or 97. If you have a newer computer with a new operating system it won't work and yeah, Husqvarna will not help!

I bought a new computer with Windows 8 & now my dongle is not recognized, why?
I tried the Husqvarna Viking dongle drivers for 4D VIP Customizing software on a new Windows 8.1 system, but nothing worked. (It worked fine on my old Vista system). After a few weeks of frustration, I found this site : http://www.safenet-inc.com/support_and_downloads/Download_Drivers/Sentinel_Drivers/.
I downloaded the Sentinel Driver v7.5.8 (they work for Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/2008/2012/Vista & Windows 7&8 (32 bit and 64 bit)), installed it, restarted my computer, and everything worked like a charm.
Somebody should tell Husqvarna about those drivers...

You will have to maintain an XP computer or buy new software there is no fix for your problem.It's the electronic age the old software was written for the XP operating system.When MS changed the operating system Husqvarna Viking had to design new software it's that simple.Don't blame the manufacturer Microsoft made the changes that created the problem. www.sewvac.com

I have a Husqvarna 1250/Viking 1+ that my aunt recently gave me when she upgraded machines. I have installed the Customizing 95 (version 1.31) software on my laptop and it works fine. However, I can not...
1. Did the software come with a dongle? This is a "key" that looks like a memory stick, that is actually a copyright protection device. You cannot access the program without it. To get the program to recognize it. plug it into a free USB Port, then power up your computer. It will read the dongle as a new device and install it on your computer. Always make sure the dongle is plugged into the same USB port as when its installation.

2. Check the operating system compatibility of your embroidery software and your computer.

What is your computer's OS? If you have Vista, it will not read Win95-XP. In that case, you may need to find a used computer to dedicate to your embroidery and install Win 98. I have XP 2000 and it reads all the Win programs back through 95.

My Husqvarna Rose/3D Embroidery Studio, will not operate with the Vista program. It will run on XP, because XP is backward compatible to previous Windows programs.

If this is the problem, you can still purchase older Windows programs very affordably. Before installing it on your hard drive, I would get expert instructions from a professional, who would back up your hard drive. I've also heard of people partitioning their hard drives, so that they could use more than one operating system.

(This is MUCH CHEAPER than purchasing a new machine and all the software, etc to go with.)

Just a note: The small notebooks they've come out with, do not have the proper drive to run your embroidery program.

3. If you have the reader'writer that came with the machine and no serial port on your computer or printer, you can take the box to your local Radio Shack or computer repair, where you can get an adapter with a serial plug on one end and a USB plug on the other, or get the "Ultimate Box Plus". The adapter is cheaper.

One, or all, of these little tidbits may fit your problem.

What Version of VIP customizing is for Designer 1 USB stick
When you purchase the Husqvarna Viking software it comes with a code key called a "Dongle". It plugs into a usb port and "unlocks" the software. You can't just load the software and have it work without the dongle and you cannot just purchase a dongle. That software is about 3 versions old and is not being supported anymore by Viking. Their new software starts at $400 and is called 4D embroidery. Their web site shows what it can do.
