Do not clear any registry files at all especially if you are asking which ones to delete. You will not be a happy camper doing this. More than likely you will have to re-install your operating system again if you do. I use a software program called ccleaner which clean the registry for you. It is free software you can retrieve it here. Never delete files you are not sure what your deleting there are several good programs that will do that for you automatically. I hope this assisted you. Hotmail.comHello, I would like to be able to find the temperary files and folders that go into my computer automaticly when I browse online. My computer is running very slow and I want it speeded up so if...

hi June here is how you clear the temp file folder on your pc please do this as i say do not take short cuts as you will not get to the correct temp folder.. go to my computer then double click C drive then double click documents and settings then double click on the folder that has the name of your computer on it then double click local settings then double click temporary internet files then in top left corner click edit then click select all then next to edit click file then click on delete then you will have all the internet temp files deleted, i also would suggest getting a very good program called CCleaner this will remove all the junk built up in the registry which is actually the thing that slows pc's down allot, i use it myself and i have found it to be the very best of any pc cleaner about as it does not delete important files from your pc that you do not know what they are about like some other pc cleaners, you can download it from this trusted site http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
hope this helps please rate and vote thanks

Missing CD DVD driver

The issue could be due to missing or corrupt CD/DVD drive drivers. If you are using Windows XP OS, then go ahead and peform the following steps:

=== Backing Up Registry and Registry Key ===

CAUTION: The registry contains critical information and a
registry backup is essential. An incorrect registry
entry may cause serious system problems or prevent the
computer from starting. You will not be warned of any
incorrect registry entries. If the registry is not
backed up, the only way to recover the system is to
reinstall the operating system. Do not double-click the
Backup.reg file on the desktop unless you intend to undo
the changes you are making to the registry.

1. Click Start and select Run.
2. Type Regedit in the Open field and click OK.
3. Click "File" in the menu.
4. Click "Export" from the drop-down menu.
5. Click the down arrow beside "Save In" and select Local Disk(C:).
6. Type Backup.reg in the File Name field.
7. Click Save.

=== Deleting UpperFilter and LowerFilter Registry Keys ===

1. Click Start and click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit and click OK.
3. Click the plus (+) sign beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
4. Click the plus (+) sign beside System.
5. Click the plus (+) sign beside Current Control Set.
6. Click the plus (+) sign beside Control.
7. Click the plus (+) sign beside Class.
8. Locate the {4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} key and click it.
9. On the File menu, click Export.
10. In the File name box, type savedkey and click Save. It is better
to save the "savedkey" to the desktop.
11. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters (found in right
window pane) and then click Delete on the Edit menu.
12. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.

NOTE: If this data type is missing, continue to the next
method.

13. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type LowerFilters (found in right
window pane) and click Delete on the Edit menu.
14. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
15. Quit the Registry Editor and restart the computer.

My DvD in my hp pavilion dv5000 refuses to play my cd. what do i do?

Removing the drive from Device Manager Follow these steps to remove the drive from Device Manager:
  1. Click Start , type device into the search field.
  2. Click Device Manager from the search results. Device Manager opens. Figure 2: Device Manager
  3. Click the plus sign (+ ) next to DVD/CD-ROM drives category. Figure 3: DVD/CD-ROM drives category
  4. Right-click the drive and then click Uninstall . Figure 4: Device Manager: Uninstall
  5. Click OK to remove the CD listing. Do not restart the computer and do not refresh the hardware list.
  6. Close Device Manager . You must complete the Clearing the registry filters before attempting to burn another disc.
Clearing the registry entries If deleting and scanning for the CD/DVD drivers in the Device Manager does not resolve the problem, you should remove the drivers and uninstall the burning software, and then perform the following steps. Uninstalling the software should force the registry to clear the CD/DVD entries; however, this may not work if the registry is corrupted. Follow the steps to manually clear the registry entries. NOTE: You may need to uninstall and reinstall software applications that are able to burn CDs/DVDs after performing this step. Therefore, do not perform this step if you do not know how to reinstall your CD writing software. Uninstall all CD writing software (Roxio Creator, Cyberlink Power2Go, etc...) using add/remove programs. For more help, you can read Cannot Remove or Uninstall Software .
  1. Click Start , type regedit into the search field, and then select regedit from the list.
  2. If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. The Registry Editor appears.
  3. Click File , Export , type a file name that is easy to remember, and click Save . A copy of the registry has been saved for back-up purposes. If the registry is accidentally damaged or more problems occur after completing the rest of these steps, you can double-click this back-up file to restore the registry.
  4. Locate, and then click, the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} CAUTION: There can be many instances of the registry subkey mentioned in step 4. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM. NOTE: Depending on the software installed on your PC, you may not have any filters installed, both the Upper and Lower Filters, or you may have only the LowerFilter present. If a filter is present, it should be deleted.
  5. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters , and click Delete .
  6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry.
  7. In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters , and click Delete .
  8. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry.
  9. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
