I have a Acer TravelMate 5720 Notebook and I need to remove the CD/DVD rom . How do I do that ?

That is possibly because the CD was made on another computer and was not "finalized" for use on other pc's.

Just place the disc into the dvd rom, power on the computer and follow the prompts.
Usually you'll have to change the boot order under setup. Pay attention to any messages that pop up once you power on the computer, usually press the ESC key during boot up will give you a better idea of what key to push to enter into the setup or to choose which boot device to run first.

Is it really a DVD drive? DVD drives can pick both with ease but a CD drive cannot pick DVD's.

u have to remove the screw behind the laptop and oppsite to CD rom.

On te back side of your laptop you will see a sign on a screw like cd , unscrew this screw and pull the cddrive.

Is the laptop still under manufacturer's warranty?
Was it purchased on a credit-card that offers an "extended" warranty?
If not, then purchase an external CD/DVD unit, because that will be less expensive than buying a replacement from the manufacturer, and paying a qualified computer-technician to disassemble your laptop, remove the "dead" drive, and connect the "new" drive.

You likely do not have a DVD-Rom. Check the front of the DVD and be sure that it says DVD-ROM on it. If it does not you may consider contacting Acer to upgrade it.
