Compaq laptop my laptop was working perfectly then the battery died while i was using it. i hooked the charger up to it then all of the sudden it would not turn on and the charge light flashes. Occasionally the charge light as well as the power light will flash repeatedly very fast. Also On rare occasions the computer will seem like it is starting up for about 3 sec.(you can see all lights and hear the fan) then it turns off. The battery will not charge either. Where do i Start?

you may have had a surge on your charger, i'd unplug it and try a different outlet. After you unplug it, remove the battery for about a minute, then when at the new location plug the battery back in and then the charger. see if that works. if it doesn't it's possible that your charger just died. Did you happen to look and see how much battery you had available when it died?
Remove the battery from the computer and plug in the correct charger and see if it will power on. without the battery. if so turn off and put battery back in with power connected see if it powers up.

Did ur laptop works or turn on when u plug the adaptor charger?
If ur laptop turns on when the charger is pluged in, u got problem with ur DYiNG BATTERY!
Better buy a brand new battery!

Take out the battery and only hook up the AC Adapter to see if the laptop turns on. If it does then you know the battery is shorting out the laptop and either has very little power to turn on the laptop or is shorting out the laptop cause its bad.
If you don't get the laptop to turn on, make sure your using a well known working wall outlet to plug the laptop to and only use the AC Adapter. If you AC Adapter is hooked up and the Green Led turns on then you know the adapter is good.
After those two steps, you can also try taking out the dvd drive and the hard drive. Then try turning on the laptop and if the laptop still doesn't turn on then the motherboard is bad in the laptop.
r u mention for battery light?if is it true,then the light is blinking because of your laptop want to make sure the power supply charge that battery.if it is in charging condition,the light on.but if the light goes off,that mean, the battery is already full.
But when u use adaptor without battery, the light will goes off because no charging session is in progress which has same behaviour with battery full(during battery full,no charging session occur)
