It says memory card error.i took out the sd card and it was not locked and it still says memory card locked. i formated the card also and it still says the same thing.

This must be very upsetting for you - what make and model of camera has this occurred on ?

To correct a Memory Card Lock:
one the side of the memory card is a plastic toggle switch, slide it down and up again to reset the switch and then stick it back into your camera.. see if that fixed the problem.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). The likely reason this keeps happening is that these cards weren't formatted in the camera when you first got them. However, don't do so just yet as formatting also erases the card. If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. Now AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the cards IN THE CAMERA USING THE CAMERAS FORMAT FEATURE. Did you format the card before using it on your camera? Try using a memory card reader instead of the printer's SD card slot to transfer the video. Also check if the memory card is locked (check the position of the yellow slider at the right side of the card). If this does not work, then you will have to format the card. Unfortunately this will erase all the data in your card.
