Question about Sub-Zero 690 Side by Side Refrigerator

Hello, For the subzero 690 with the square door switches, is the light switch and the fan switch exactly the same. I am replacing my light switch and purchased 2 new light switches. I'm wondering if I can use one of them to replace the fan switch since I am already opening up the top of the door to replace the light switch. Or do I have to purchase the fan switch also.

Dear margidaniel,

The light switch and fan switch are two different components. The light switch allows electricity to flow to the lights when the door is open. The fan switch allows electricity to flow to the fan when the door is closed.

Check your light switch, if your light switch is not the problem it may be the light switch terminator which should be bypassed.

The lights in the refrigerator suddenly stopped working even though the refrigerator is running. Tried replacing the bulbs, it is not the bulbs. Why would the lights stop working?

I'm sorry to hear that the lights in your Sub-zero unit are not working. It is unlikely that all the bulbs went out at the same time. You most likely have a bad light switch. If you open the refrigerator door & look upwards you will see two white switches. The switch on the left controls the lights. The part number to this light switch is 7014646. Subzero refrigerator is not cold. freezer is fin
you could have a leak in the sealed system,most likely the evap coil.in the fridge section,is there any ice on the left side back wall?look at the back wall on the left side around 12 inches up from the bottom draws,if there's ice there you have a freeon leak and you'll need it replaced.look at your warranty,i believe the sealed system is under warrany for the first 12 years and it's around 650 dollars to do the job.there are two compressors,one for the freezer and one for the fridge.also open the door,you'll see tow switches on top,push them in,does the lights go out and the fan come on,i've seen the light switches stick,the lights stay on and the fridge gets very warm.how old is it?if it's digital is it saying to clean the coil or anything like this?

Sub zero 690 light switch won't come on

You can't buy the part from them anymore - call subzero and get the parts dealer nearest you.

As you will see the light switch is easy to replace - just open the top panel to your unit (after turning the unit off) and unplug the wiring harness. Then as you see in the photo of the part in the link above there is a small retaining clip that you just apply a little pressure to to push the switch through. New switch is installed in the reverse order. I haven't ordered one of the switches in a while but I think they are not more than $10.

Subzero model 532 fridge not cooling well, freezer ok
Did u check condenser on the top behind the grill? If it's clean, check unit for evaporator freon leaking. Light....Possibly bad bulbs behind that plastic light cover or light switch - one of them located on upper portion of door frame.

Sub Zero 690 replaced lights but fan and lights dont work
The fan will only run when the compressor is running. Check it a couple of times to see if it actually is not going on. There is alos a light terminator located behind the fan cover. We will assume it is the light switch. For the light switch go to http://subzero.com/locator/locator.aspx?type=0&zip=Zip%20Code. This will take you to a locator to find the authorized parts distributor for your area I believe the part number for the light switch is 3060140 have them check it using your model and serial number. Once you have the part remove the three phillips head screws that hold the grill in place, this is assuming you don't have the louvered grill. You access these inside the fresh food and freezer compartments. With the door open you look up in to the metal you will be able to see them. Once you get the grill off there is a grey power cord with a white quick connect disconjnect this or turn the power off at the circuit breaker. You will be working on live electricity if you don't.Not good for your life expectancy. There is one more phillips head screw for the cover of the two switches. The light switch has a white back and the fan switch has a black one. Remove the two wires then push it down and slip the new one in. Replace all that you took off. While you have the grill off vacuum the condensor. If this is too much the link above also is for authorized service in your area.

SubZero 532 frig lights out
There are two door switches one for fan and the other for the lights. With the compressor running, there are two so yu need to make sure it is the refrigerator and not the freezer, open the door and press the right switch and listen for a fan. The left should be your light switch and the problem is generally in the switch, on rare occasions there is a failure of bi-metal safety switch part number 4200850. One very rare occasions you may have a wiring proble.If you go to www.subzero.com there is a showroom locator tab on the top right corner, click it and you will go to a locator page which will get you to your local parts didtributor.

Light is out in 650
Check continuity on door light switch with ohmmeter (turn off power and disconnect wire harness at switch first) Probably a second switch that turns compressor off if door open. my 690 sub zero had a bad light switch that was stuck on initially but now only works if I wiggle it. Can a person buy parts online? Some new subzeros have a fuse panel behind the compressor grill??
Just bought a used 690 and found a nice wiring diagram for a model 630 or something in a nice ziplock pouch behind the compressor grill. Look there for clues.
