If your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
you might have to uninstall then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling
a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this
right click to install driver also
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
also you if this does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable)

The speakers wont work when i plug them into the computer so what do i do ?

Try connecting the speakers to another computer, to see if they work at all.

Try connecting a different set of speakers to your computer, to see if your computer is creating sound (not "muted" ???).

Problem hooking up bose speakers

mcdevito75 here, The HP speakers that came with your computer work fine, the bose speakers work fine on your other computer, the plug on the Bose speakers is a little shorter than the HP speakers, and only the right Boss speaker is working, HMM, Check the Bose speakers, both of them for a volume control 1 of them may need adjustment on this particular computer. If that"s not it, I would speak to a Radio Shack, Staples etc.

Worked last week computer crashes now restored speakers don't work now. another set of speakers work. &35's won't work on a different computer, Powers up clicks when plugged in but no sound /

You said, other speakers worked fine ono that pc right? And the speakers doesn't on other computers? Then surely the speakers are now defective. It might be the wirings or internal parts of the speaker. Check warranty of the speakers, if it is expired, then you have to replace the speakers.

A215 speakers are not working....

Connect the speakers to a different computer.
If they still don't work, responsibly recycle them, and buy some new speakers. But, before you do, try the speakers from the different computer in your computer. If they don't work, then it's a problem with your computer, not with your speakers.

Computer is not recgonizing my speakers?

Check the speakers with any other device. Probably the speakers are not working or if they work fine, connect any other working speaker to your system and check whether if they work or not.
If the other speakers also don't work you probably have a faulty port.

Help! Only my right speaker works on my new speakers! Do I need a new sound card?

USB headphones and speakers tend to operate independently of the PC's sound card, but you can determine if your sound card is the problem by plugging the speakers into a different computer. If both speakers work on a different computer, then the problem does lie in the original computer. If so, try a different USB port, especially one that is directly on the computer, not in a usb hub.

If only one speaker works on a different computer, I would troubleshoot the cord that connects the left speaker to the right speaker. Perhaps it is damaged or not connected fully.

Hope that helps.

My computer speaker is not working

To determine if the speakers are faulty or the computer, plug the speakers into a stereo player. If the sounds come out of both speakers then they are OK and the fault is with the computer/s.
It could be software or hardware fault (ie. the audio card).

Speakers

the computer speakers should have some sort of power going to them, whether it being battery powered or plugged into an outlet.
