Stuck in stylus tap mode

I did a hard reset on my i500 and the screen is now stuck in the tap the center of the target mode with the stylus. No matter how many times I keep tapping the center of the target it will not get out of this screen. I've tried several resets and hard resets and it keeps reverting back to this mode. I am not able to turn my phone on to make calls because of this. Any ideas?

Hi, I had the problem after the battery was discharged for a long period. when i charged it and turned it on, i got the message "tap the center" but with no luck. i found out that the lipo battery in the palm was like inflated to double size and therfore was pressing on the backside of the screen, as i removed the back cover it vorked just fine ( if you want to turn it on when the back cover is off, there is a "sabotage" switch you have to press to make it operate, it is located just behind the on button)

Did you perform a hard reset? To do this:

Slide open the device to expose the QWERTY keyboard.
Press and hold the center of the 5-way navigation pad.
While holding the center of the 5-way navigation pad, use the stylus to gently press and release the reset button.
When Clearing Data... appears on the screen, release the center of the 5-way navigation pad.
When prompted, tap the screen to setup the device.

Palm Tungsten E2 stuck on Tap the center of the target

The digitizer part is defective and needs to be replaced.

You can find digitizer parts in ebay or other on-line companies, at reasonable prices.

Regarding the labor cost, depending of the repair shop you choose, it may be cheap or expensive.

Also, if you have minimum experience and skills in fixing electronics, you can try it. really is not so difficult, and minimum set of tools are needed for it

The screen seems locked in one mode

im not to sure if this works with what u got but it should. soft reset: pop out the battery from it wait abit ant then pop it back in turn it on if it still does this then..... hard reset: look at the back of the phone for a little round button to push use like a paper clip or pen, hold it down and the power button down as well until the device powers on. u will loose all ur data on the phone but it shouuld work. if it doesnt then its ur hardware not the software. somewhere they repair cell phones like celltek would be able to for good price.

Touch screen problem

Change the LCD (and not the touch screen) is what i've done and it's very easy.
If you had it apart you should have seen the connector of the screen.
Just look for a LCD on ebay, for example, and you'll see what the connector looks like.
Changing the touch screen is surely more complicate as you have to unglue the touch screen.
So as i've found a LCD for a quite cheap price i did buy it and change it, everyting is fine now.

Screen Calibration

Check for protective film/screen debris build-up around edges.

Check for loose cabling plugs into the back of the Screen
Unscrew the four little fascia screws & lift panel out.

I had same problem after unable to enter password.
Did Hard reset, encountered the stylus calibration cycling error.
One of my screen cables had come adrift slightly at one corner.
