Printer Won't Print

When I compose a document via Word on my Mac OS X 10.4.11, then attempt to print it...it spiels out blank pages. It was up and running well a couple of weeks ago.

HP LaserJet 3050 All-In-One Printer blank pages after attempting to print second envelope from same document - turning off and back on solves temporarily

If the same fault occurs with different printers it is almost certainly caused by the document.
"...second envelope from same document" suggests you are using a mail-merger. Is that right?
What happens if you start again from scratch? Mke a new document and try to print it a a single entity, without using mail merge?

Prints blank page

Have you checked the print que
Printer problems can be a real hassle.
From time to time, due to document layout or settings on your computer, in your software of choice, or even on your printer, a blank page may get "printed" with the rest of your document.
Fortunately, this issue is a simple one to troubleshoot.
Click "Print Preview" when you are finished with your document and ready to print.
Observe your document.
If you see an extra, blank page, you have created a second page.
To delete the second page, close Print Preview, go back into the document and eliminate any blank lines in your documents that you may not need.
You may also find an inadvertent page break at the end of your document.
Place your cursor on its symbol and delete it.
Locate the symbol by clicking on the Show Formatting paragraph icon in the toolbar.

Circumvent this "ghost page" if you do not see a second (or additional) blank page in Print Preview.

Specify the number of pages you wish to print, within the Print dialogue box.
This is typically done by selecting the "Print From" option, then entering the page numbers desired.
If your document happens to be ten pages (without, of course, that final blank page), then enter in the "Print From" field the numbers "1-10".
This will print only pages 1 through 10, without an eleventh (blank) page.

My PIXMA MP560 is only printing the first line of doc, or blank page, when I try to print a MS Word doc from my mac. I am running OS 10.6.6.

Hi Brenan
Is it the same with a TextEdit document or a web page?
It could be something as simple as a font error. I have been to quite a few macs where one particular font (generally brought over if the new mac has been migrated to from an older mac) will not print on an MP560 (a great printer by the way) Try changing the font to Arial and then see what happens.

Prints blank pages

hi jcruisedirec

Test print shows that there is no problem with he printer.
Do this:

Type just one or two words in a new document and try to print. Before printing, look at the print setup and make sure you have the correct printer name selected.
Also when you go to print, there are few options like:

  • Print All
  • Current page
  • Pages
  • Selection
If you attempt to print "selection" without actually selecting a certain portion of the document, you get blank page.
So first check that the correct name of the printer is selected.
Then test printing one page
Hope this will help you. Good luck.

Printer queue is full

This problem seems to be related to USB printers and print queue issues are very common in Mac OS computers and Windows 2000 PCs.

You don't say if you are using a USB connector, but they're pretty common these days. You also don't say if you're using a Mac or PC, but most people use PCs. I did find a solution for this issue that says it's related to Windows 2000 and a USB printer, but may apply to other operating system platforms:

Print Jobs are Stuck in the Print Queue

The first step to this solution is to download and install an HP diagnostic software utility. There's a separate page at HP that describes the utility and lets you download it:

HP Printing and Diagnostic Utility

I didn't find any information that specifically said that you "can" print a test page but "can't" print a document.

Another reason why you might be able to print a test page but not a document isn't related to the printer but the application that created the document. If you are having trouble with Word or Excel or whatever office application you used to create the doc, it might not print. That's why it is helpful to try to print a variety of different docs, created with different apps.

It could also be the individual document. Occasionally, a document becomes corrupted and while you may be able to open it (and sometimes you can't do even that), it doesn't print. If you haven't tried printing more than one document, you can test this by creating another doc in the same app and seeing if it'll print.

Try doing test prints with different docs and then with docs created in different apps. If those work, it's doc/app related. If they don't, try the links I suggested above.

Good luck.

Printer won't print

Don't have a solution...only a problem. I compose a document with "Word" on my Mac OS X 10.4.11 and hit print, but my HP Deskjet 5150 spits out a  blank (on preview the document is also blank). Where do I go from here (on occasion, it does print out download material).
