At the risk of giving a simplistic answer, let me go through the steps I go through every time I use mine:
1) Plug it into the wall
2) Take out the upper "hopper" and fill it up to the fill line with hot water
3) Put in the capful of cleaning solution (about 2 oz.)
4) Gently swish it back and forth, then put back into upper unit until it clicks into place
5) For best results, set the vacuum on Dry and vacuum the house first, then clean the lower "hopper"
6) Set the vacuum to Wet, put the scrub brushes on, depress the trigger and do overlapping strokes, a section at a time I depress the trigger on the push stroke, then release it for the pull stroke. I clean a section, then turn off the scrub brushes and go over it again without the scrub brush or touching the trigger (trying to pick up as much water as possible).

On average, when refilling the water/cleaner solution for the top hopper, empty and clean the lower hopper. When the floors are finished, completely clean that lower hopper or it will smell!

Hope this helps...

Hoover floor mate h3000 will not suction water from floor when cleaning

Your collection canister may not be positioned tight enough in its place ment site. Tip machine back using foot pedal (as if you were going tio start using machine to clean) Insert collection canister (bottom container, then insert top canister with solution. The two canisters must be flush with machine side seams and must sit in position tightly. This is sometimes very tricky and may take a little elbow grease to make it click into place. Hope this helps

I have a hoover floor mate hard floor cleaner and the brushes won't spin

Hi, it's Jeremy from Crucial Vacuum.

In the link below you will find the user manual for your Hoover Floor Mate vacuum:
http://hoover.com/file/597/

Here are a few repair tips to make fixing your vacuum easy. Your Hoover brush-roll is connected to the motor by two different sized geared belts. Over time, the belt's gears wear down and stretch out losing the grooves and tension that turn the roller. When this happens you will simply have to attach a new set of belts. Another reason why your brush is not spinning could be that there is debris stuck in the roller and/or bearings. You can either use a can of compressed air to remove the debris or simply remove it with your hand.

Unable to find recomended cleaner for floor mate, what can I use

Do NOT use ammonia...it will destroy the seals. #1 NEVER leave solution in the tank...and clean everything after every use. Lowe's and/or Home Depot have Bissels cleaner for the Hoover Floormate...also check Target and Walmart's sweeper dept. If ALL fails, you may use Zep Pine Cleaner (Home Depot) in a diluted 2oz. to 1qt. water...filling ONLY the little reservoir with this dilution!!!!! Good Luck.

I just bought a Hoover floor mate for hard floors. The problem is the water with cleaner is not coming down to the bristles at all. Help please. It is brand new. Any ideas???

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover Floormate H3000 Upright Wet/Dry Vacuum. You can down load the owner manual from the Hoover website www.hoover.com . It looks like the one of the holding or recovery tanks my not be in place, leaking, cracked or damaged, or the clear tube is leaking and needs replacing. I looked 2 the owner’s manual and it does not show the clear tube but the vacuum does come apart and just back track the clear tube and mark the screws when you disassemble the unit. Other wise , please call the factory or a local Hoover warranty station in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I have a hoover floor mate(the hard floor cleaner). The plastic solution cannister leaks through a spring plunger.

There is a rubber bushing that should be in there also. But replacing your tank may be the best option.
