I had this problem on my Whirlpool washer WFW9300. I didn't have to replace the MCU, but that was the source for my problem in that the powder soap water mix spilled down on the MCU circuit, dried, and changed the electrical properties of the circuit. I removed the MCU, washed it under running water, then dried extremely good for 2-3 hours in the sun. Before cleaning the error showed in 5-10 minutes, after the first cleaning the error showed after 40 minutes operation. After the second and more thorough cleaning running water around every component, and drying really good, the error has not returned.

I have a code fdl coming up. What does that mean?

Hi,

FdL means that the main circuit board (CCU) is not communicating with the door lock and the door needs to be locked b/4 the washer will work. The door lock is rarely the problem. Most often its cold solder joints on the CCU circuit board causing the bad communication. Many times a F11 code comes along with the FdL code. To repair this problem the CCU circuit board needs to be removed and the solder points where the spade connectors and the relays are connected to the circuit board need to be soldered over again. This all stems from poor quality control when the circuit boards had the components soldered to them. The process was able to adhere the smaller connections but not the larger ones compleatly. If your not to handy with a soldering gun you could take this response and show it to a good appliance repair outlet and they should be able to repair your circuit board. Good Luck.

We keep getting a dl f code and the washer will not finish the cycle.

Hi,

The FdL code means a communication error from the door lock to the CCU (one of the circuit boards that run the machine) Unfortunatly the fix isn't easy. The problem is the CCU. Whirlpool had some bad quality control when these circuit boards were made and there are cold solder joints on the circuit board where the relays and spade connectors are connected to the circuit board. You'll need to remove the circuit board and touch-up those connections or have a good appliance repair shop do it for you. The circuit board is located in the machine at the top, back, in a plastic case made out of some cheap plastic. Mark all the connections or take a picture of them before you remove them, they are keyed but it still helps to mark them. Just take out the whole plastic case, it's easier. You will break some tabs getting to the circuit board (remember, cheap plastic) Once you have those connections touched-up it will also take care of the F11 code that often times comes with the FdL code. Good luck.

My kenmore elite washer has a F 70 displayed? Wha...

The F70 and F71 error codes on this model of washer indicates a communication problem between the user interface control board and the central control unit (main control board). These error codes can sometimes be caused by a power surge or glitch through the electrical lines. Try unplugging the washer to completely disconnect electrical power. Wait 1 minute and then plug the washer back in to the see if the fault code clears. If it does, then the washer may work normally.

If the code reappears, then you could have a wire harness connection problem, a failed user interface control board or a failed central control unit. I recommend calling a service technician to properly diagnose and repair this type of problem so that the correct component can be replaced.

Be sure your unit is plugged into a 3 prong grounded outlet as well.

F71 is a "heatbeat failure" which means that your front interface control board is shorted and will need to be replaced. it's actually fairly easy to replace and can definitely be done by yourself. To access the part, just pull the unit forward and remove the 3 screws coming in from the back of the top panel. Remove the top panel by pulling it back, up, and off. Then remove all the screws going into the top of the control panel. Remove the dispenser drawer and remove the screws coming in through the dispenser. Remove the screws coming from the inside of the dryer going forward into the control panel, then remove the control panel (it's just clipped in on the bottom. After that you can disconnect the wire harnesses to the front interface control board and replace that part.

What does code F70 and F71 mean on my whirlpool duet?

Error code F70 means no communication is detected from the Central Control Unit (CCU) to the User Interface while F71 is the reverse; no communication detected from the User Interface to the Central Control Unit (CCU). This could simply mean a loose or poor connection between the two communicating boards.

Disconnect power to the washer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Remove the three screws attaching the top panel to the rear of the washer then slide the panel rearward and lift it off the washer.

Disconnect the User Interface ribbon connector from the left side of the Central Control Unit (CCU) and clean the connector and terminals thoroughly. Reseat the connector several times to ensure a good connection between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the User Interface.

It is highly recommended to clean and reseat every wiring harness connector from the Central Control Unit (CCU) to prevent the same problem in the near future.

Reconnect every wiring harness to the CCU and make sure all connectors are firmly seated. Slide the top panel back into position and secure it to the rear of the washer with the screws previously removed.

Let us know if the problem persists for further assistance. We will be happy to resolve your problem.

HELP!!

We've had this problem for about a yr when i finally firgured out how to correct it.
the problem is that the circuit board is attached to the washer, when it starts to shake it causes the connections to loosen and theats the fault code you get.
How I fixed this was to suspend the circuit from a bungie strap this will allow the washer to shake all it wants and the circuit board is stable, connections stay tight andwasher works fine, after 6 months not one error code at all
