I have a Mitsubishi WD-65837, its 14-16 months old. The picture has been getting darker and darker for about a week now. Is it as simple as a new lamp?

Mitsubishi dlp tv picture is getting darker

One of two possible issues:

1. Lamp is nearing end of life and may dim just before total failure.

2. A few of these models have 2 mirrors(check with Mitsubishi to see if yours is one) A large mirror in back (never gives a problem and do not try to clean it. Some idiot in these sets used a small mirror inside that the optical unit shines the picture into (wedge shaped mirror and small) and it is facing up----the fans intake air from the front of the set around this mirror--it gets coated with lots of dust---Picture can loose up to 70% of its brightness and clarity if that mirror is dirty--looks like 20 year old set .

If you do not wish to check with Mitsubishi GOOGLE THE MODEL NUMBER with "mirrors" to see.

If it has 2 mirrors I can tell you exactly how to get at it.

The picture on my mitsubishi wd-60c9 is darker then normal and adjusting the brightness settings does not help how do i fix this problem

Brian, See my answer to Brenda, the question before yours. My TV did the exact same thing in September. Time for a new bulb, before it all goes black in a few day!! Better hurry, too!! EBay or 'ShopJimmy" will fix you up with a new bulb. "Bulb only" is cheaper and a few muniutes to swap over. Entire bulb assembly costs a few dollars more, but then all you do is slide old one out and new unit in.

Mitsubishi wd-73736 bulbs buzzing noise

The Ballast that ignites the Lamp could cause the Lamp to fail and/or cause a buzzing noise. That being said, the Color Wheel in the Optical Block assembly could also cause a similar symptom. If Mitsubishi would be willing to help with the Lamp cost, I would call a local Mitsubishi repair facility to install it and see if the noise is still there and find out exactly what is causing it. Mitsubishi Customer Service Phone number is 1800-332-2119.
I hope this helps,

Old 53" Mitsubishi Rear Projection - Burnin?

Yes this is burn in and replacing the crts that have the image burn is the only fix. There is no lamp in this set. There are 3 crts and not cost effective to replace them.

Picture getting darker over the years

It could be your Light Engine. However, I would first check a few things:

1. Make sure your Low Power/Lamp settings are adjusted so that they meet your brightness needs.

2. Make sure you used a Mitsubishi original lamp, as generics get chewed through fast and hard.

3. Try another lamp; sometimes you can get a bad one in the bunch.

All those things don't work, consider a Light Engine ($400 + for parts; $300+ for labor)

Mitsubishi WD-73827 with degrading color

Good Day;

More then likely your 2005 MODEL has a bad "LIGHT ENGINE". Call an Authorized Service Center and have them give you an estimate, then call MIT's and try to get them to give you a "CONCESSION". It's costly. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Le40m86bdx picture not sharp

I have a two and a half month old Sharp, LC-19SK24U-W. It was fantastic with fantasic, clear, beautifully colored picture until two weeks ago. All of a sudden, the picture starting getting darker and darker. Nothing had been adjusted from day one when I set up contrast, etc. This comes and goes but most of the time is an issue. I can make it a bit lighter but then it is so fuzzy and grainy it is a very poor picture. Also, while this began, one time the television turned itself off and then back on without a power surger or anything.
