I just installed my new netgear router and i have the hardtime to get a username and password..what is the best way to fix this problem

It varies according to model , if you have access to the internet see here or try as below, the two words below the router type are the name and password as you enter them. If this does not work you will have to reset the router to factory settings.

Have a new netgear72 router how do i find password

For most NETGEAR devices (except ReadyNAS/ReadyDATA products and Fully Managed Switches), the default username and password is:

  • Username (all models) = admin
  • Password (current models) = password
  • Password (very old models) = 1234


Default username and password for ReadyNAS/ReadyDATA products:

  • Username (all models) = admin
  • Password (ReadyNAS OS and ReadyDATA OS) = password
  • Password (RAIDiator firmware) = netgear1
  • Password (Infrant firmware) = infrant1


Default username and password for NETGEAR fully managed switches:

I have lost my network security key. My router is a Netgear
If you have lost it for good your best bet is to reset your router to its defaults and then set a new one. You should find a button, usually red, on the back of the router. Press that for about 30 seconds or until you see the lights cycle. The router will now be returned to its defaults and you will be able to log into it using the default credentials and set it back up. Good luck.

My new Netgear wnr2000 keeps dropping connection on the wired side. This happens nearly every five minutes. Netgear support are a waste of time, kept me on the phone 40mins the first time and 30 the next....
well if ur Router is a NETGEAR , on the Router GUI
i mean Log into Router with 192.168.1.1
username is admin & password is password
go to Left side Blue Screen
click on WAN SETUP under Advanced
Check the Disable SPI Firewall
Select MTU Size as 1400
also set the NAT filtering as Open
Apply settings i am sure issue Resolved

I have an optus netgear router model DG834G v5 and trying to set it to work with Telstra Bigpond, but don't know how to.
To bypass the Optus login page type in the address bar 10.1.1.1/CA_HiddenPage.htm
It will ask to disable the Optus login, accept, then close the page, open a new page and type in the address bar 10.1.1.1
And you will be at the router login
Username: admin password: password

I am trying to hook up a netgear wirelees router having when get to the screen with user name admin and ask for a password on back of the router that the password is password? it keeps kicking me out of...
you may be best reseting the router. It looks like the password or username are not the factory default. You will see a small reset button on the back, put a paperclip in here on hold down for 5-10 seconds until the lights flash and the router restarts. You will now be back to factory defaults - IP, username and password

Difficulty in installation
1. hard reset ur modem ( it will set to bridge by default)
2. connect ur modem to WAN port at netgear router
3. connect ur pc to LAN port at netgear router
4. by default ur pc ip should be 192.168.1.x
5. type at IE/firefox address bar


username = admin
password = password

6. enter all basic info (ISP = other, streamyx username password, wifi setting)
7. set value for idle timeout (in minutes) = 0
