I would suggest getting a copy of K-Lite Codec pack.
After installing this it will allow Media Player and related to open and run files normally strange to it.

The easy fix is a new regulator, if it is not the regulator you probably have a blockage in the pilot assembly. You have to take the head apart ot find and clear the blockage. If you are not comfortable with this, hire a service tech.
