A critical firmware error has
occurred.
Try following these steps -
1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear the
print job from the printer
memory.
2. Turn the printer off, and then
turn the printer on again.
3. Go to http: www.hp.com/
support/lj2420.
Click Download Drivers and
Software
. Check for the
latest firmware image version
at the bottom of the page. If
this firmware image is newer
than the one installed on the
printer and the printer can
receive a firmware update,
download the newer firmware
upgrade. Not all printer
models can receive firmware
upgrades.
4. Try printing a job from a
different software program. If
the job prints, go back to the
first program and try printing a
different file. If the message
appears only with a certain
software program or print job,
contact the software vendor
for assistance.
1. After performing the actions
listed in the preceding item, if
the message persists when
using different software
programs and attempting
specific print jobs, disconnect
all cables that connect the
printer to the network or a
computer.
2. Turn the printer off.
3. Remove all memory DIMMs
or third-party DIMMs from the
printer. (Do not remove the
firmware DIMM in slot J1.)
4. Remove all of the
EIO devices from the printer.
5. Turn the printer on.
6. If the error message
disappears, reinstall
each DIMM and EIO device
individually, making sure to
turn the printer off and then
on again as you install each
device. To replace a DIMM,
see.
7. Replace the DIMM or
EIO device that caused the
error message.
8. Remember to reconnect all of
the cables that connect the
printer to the network or
computer.
9. If this error message persists,
replace the firmware DIMM.
10. Replace the formatter

SOURCE: 49.FF95 Service

It's a critical firmware error. Try printing another job. If that one works, something is corrupt with the first job. Still failing remove any extra DIMMs from the formatter. Don't remove the one in slot J1. That's the firmware DIMM. try to print. If it works, reinstall the DIMM and try again. Failure = bad DIMM. You may want to try a firmware upgrade. If everything keeps failing you'll have to replace the formatter.

ok #1 run a scan on machine with your spammer and anti virus. if you get errors let the program correct and clean them. Then reboot, turn off antivirus program till completed.

ok costa try this for me remove your network cable let sit for about 5 min then plug back in reboot machine. when you connect go to hp's site down lastest version of the drivers. Then reboot machine. oh also turn your antivirus program back on after final reboot.

LaserJet 4350 Printer: 49.2f02 service error on hp 4100 printer...

Turn the printer off for a few minutes and then back on. If that does not fix the problem, try to have the print queue cleared and tray again. Most of the time it's a PDF file that causes this problem. If that does not fix it, it may need a new Jetdirect card.

Feb 14, 2008 00:50:36 GMT Hi,

I have an HP 2420d printer, and I keep getting the following error message:

49.2F80 SERVICE ERROR

How can I fix this? It usually goes away when I turn it off and back on, but it's annoying to have to do it so often.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Robert M. Stewart expert_small.gif Feb 15, 2008 22:36:20 GMT Unassigned 49 errors are the formatter. Network card? Swap it. Any extra memory recently? Remove it. razmat lighthouse.gif Feb 16, 2008 15:23:50 GMT Unassigned you could try to unplug from everything and just have it plugged by itself into the wall and maybe print some test pages to see if the error comes up at any of those points.then hook up via parallel and try to send some print jobs ,then hook via USB and send some print jobs and see if the error comes up at any of those points.this can can help narrow things down and point to the network or elsewhere.

like the previous poster said, sometimes something on the formatter can cause this issue, like a hard disk or network card, where removing these ,at least temporariliy to test can help.

if you have the internal network port(usually on the "n" model),then try a cold reset.if you have a hard disk you can also use a skip disk load option by holding the down arrow while powering on until all led's come on ,then use the arrows to scroll to "skip disk load".cold reset is similiar except, hold down the select(checkmark) button while powering on until all led's come on and the language option pops up on the display.then scroll to cold reset.
