In device manager does the modem have an exclamation point next to it or a red X? What error message do you receive when you attempt to create the dial-up connection?

Ok, you will need to start over again. However once you get to the dialog box where you enter in the Dial-Up Phone number, click on the link entitled "Dialing Rules" And Create a new Dialing Rule Connection. Another dialog box will appear asking for your location area code enter the location area code along with the connection name (Whatever you wish to call it.) If the number you are calling is outside your area code, then choose the Area code Rules tab click "New" then type in the area code that you will be calling then under "When Dialing Phone Numbers that contain the prefix above" Check the box next to "Dial" the number "1" should be next to "dial". Click o.k. on any opened dialog boxes until you get back to the Set up a dial up connection. Under dial up phone number enter in the phone number area code first, enter in username and password, then click o.k.
If you do not already have an ISP account, you can test whether or not your modem connection will work by putting in any known working telephone number in the DIal-up Phone Number field.
After creation attempt to dial-up again.

Hi
Follow these instructions to create a dial-up connection on your computer. Then you can get on the Internet to receive/send email and browse the web.

From the Start menu, click on Connect To
Click on Set up a connection or network
Click Set up a dial-up connection
Click Next. Enter the required information for the connection:
Dial-up phone number: 513-520-1135
User Name: (the NCF accountID that was assigned to you)
Password: (the password chosen by you when you registered)
Remember this password(check this box)
Connection Name:NCF Internet - Libertel
Allow other people to see this connection: Check this if you want this connection for all users on your computer (recommended)
Note: if you have Call Waiting, temporarily disable it for the duration of your NCF connection byusing *70,,613-520-1135 as the phone number.
*The NCF dialup phone number is in area code 613 in Ottawa. Please note that long distance charges may apply to modems outside of your local calling area.

Click Connect to create and save this connection.
You have successfully created a Dial-up Connection in Windows Vista.

To connect to the NCF using the connection you have now created, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Start, and then Connect To.
  2. Left click on the NCF Internet - Libertel dialup-up connection and select Connect at the bottom.
  3. The Dial-up windows will come up. Simply click on Dial and your computer will connect to the NCF

I want download usb modem drivers for windows 7, for connecting internet through my lg kg195 mobile

Make sure that you can see the phone's modem in the modem section of device manager(Preset in Control Panel). For airtel connection you have to enter the APN(Access Point name) as "airtelgprs.com" in the PC suite to connect to internet and the dialup number is *99#.
If your pc suite dont have a option for entering the APN then you can manually enter it here-->Go to Control Panel>>Device Manager>>Your phone's modem Properties>>Advance tab>>In Extra Initialization Commands enter this (+CGDCONT=,,"airtelgprs.com") without brackets and create a dialup connection with *99# as dialup number using ur phone's modem, Username n Password field should be blank.

Code 10 problem showing in on modem(device manager)

that is a problem with your DIAL-up modem which is the old style, use your phone and dialin type of internet connection. so basically if you're on high speed you dont really need it, you can right click and disable. if the modem is in a desktop in a pci slot, you can actually just remove it all together. code 10 means the device wont start either due to hardware failure or bad drivers...but again, its a dialup modem and oyu're on highspeed so you dont even need it.

Adding a dialup connection

I think you might need to be on an account with administrative rights to complete that kind of change on a Vista system...Make sure you are logged on that way to begin with if possible...
When you don't have administrative rights, you can't set up programs that affect other users.
Here is a troubleshooter that might help you resolve this Vista network connections
and Troubleshoot Internet Connections
Also, you might take a look in your Device Manager and see that your modem is enabled and working properly.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!

Laptop Vista dialup modem - Access Limited Connectivity

  • Window update running will definitely affect your dial-up connection, but you should be able to connect faster...
  • See this article
  • Go to start>control panel>classic view>double click Network and Internet connections>click network connections>right click your connection>select properties>under General tab make sure that the device listed is your correct modem-click configure-make sure the Enable modem compression box is "unchecked"-click ok to save changes-click ok to exit.
  • Make sure you have the latest drivers available for your network adapter, consult the MS Vista Network troubleshooter available here
  • You may wish to use your Device Manager to review your hardware and address any problems that appear there.
  • Monitor processes use using task manager or process explorer to see if your ram is being taxed unduly by the running processes. (I mention this because Norton is known to be a bit heavy handed in its use of system memory, you could try an alternative AV like Avira, Kaspersky, Eset NOD32 and see how it affects connections).
  • Vista Networking
  • You might want to read through some of the posts in this forum, and see if there are any posts that answer your issue.

Please consult this article from Microsoft to take steps to improve your system's performance with Vista, by clicking here
For troubleshooting performance issues, please see these articles and the links within them: TroubleshootVistaPerformance and Troubleshoot Vista Startup and Vista Diagnostics
Finally, you may wish to consult this General Setup&Maintenance guide.

Error [678]

Hi, Step 1: Make sure the network cable is connectedMake sure that the network cable is connected to the computer and to the modem. If your computer connects to a hub or to a router, make sure the cable that connects the hub or the router to the modem is connected. Step 2: Make sure that the network adapter is enabled
  1. Click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. Right-click the Local Area Connection icon. Click Enable if the option is available.
Step 3: Reset the modem
  1. Disconnect the cable that goes from the computer to the modem.
  2. Turn off the modem. If the modem does not have a power switch, disconnect the power supply from the modem.
  3. Wait two minutes.
  4. Turn on the modem, and then connect the cable that goes from the computer to the modem.
Step 4: Uninstall and then reinstall the modem and the drivers by using Device Manager
Before you follow these steps, you may have to download the latest driver for your network adapter from the hardware manufacturer.
  1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. Click the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, and then locate Network Adapters.
  3. Expand Network Adapters, and then right-click the icon for your network adapter.
  4. Click Uninstall, and then click OK. In the dialog box that prompts you to remove the files that are associated with this device, click Yes.
  5. Restart the computer. Or, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes.
  6. If Windows finds the device but does not recognize it, you must install the latest driver for your network adapter.
If you have a Realtek 8139 network adapter, updating the driver seems to resolve this issue. 4. Click Set up my connection manually, and then click Next.
  5. Select Connect using a broadband connection that requires a user name and password, and then click Next.
  6. Follow the remaining steps. Use the connection information from your Internet service provider (ISP) to complete the wizard.
Note You may have to use software that is supplied by your ISP to create the new connection.
