Question about Husqvarna Garden
Hello trav..... you are not getting enough fuel into the engine. Begin by making sure that the fuel filter and the air filter are clean. If you have not replaced them lately, begin there. If that does not solve the problem, your carburetor is dirty. You may be able to clean it up by simply getting an aerosol can of carb. cleaner at the autoparts store and squirting some into the air intake as it is running. The best way to do this is by removing the air filter.
You may have to spray for a minute or two. Once it improves, replace the air filter. If this does not solve the problem you will have to clean the carburetor.
Here is an excellent link to a step by step directions to clean your carb. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/article/4582/How_to_Clean_a_2_Cycle_Engine_Carburetor.html

Hi,
Looks like you already received very good advice...and have a pretty good idea as to where to start out on the mixture settings....
The only thing that I would add is that I would check your fuel mixture...sounds like you may be a bit lean on the oil and that is why it is bogging down when hot...also I like to use Prem. gas... most say it isn't needed but I feel it just plain works better...

Hi Joe, I have only just received your reply, as I went to bed 1/2 an hour after asking the question. Very shortly, I will be on my way to work. I had a quick look at the link about cleaning procedures, it looks very helpful. I will try and chase up some carby cleaner and fuel and air filters as you suggested. I might have one more challenge on my hands as I fiddled with the high and low mixture screws. Would you have any idea where a good start point should be? On my fathers old Mc Culloch it used to be 1turn from home for Low , 1 1/2 for High. Thank You for your time and advice, I'll see how I go tonight if I can get the parts. Thanks, Darryl.
Hi, Thanks for responding, I have replaced the fuel and air filters, I could kick myself for not buying an new spark plug. I sprayed some carby cleaner inside the carby but could not get it to run as it did yesterday, I think it was only running on carby cleaner as it would stop soon after, my arm is tired from pulling, I found the owners manual in the back room and it says standard settings for High and Low both 1 - 1 1/4 turns , I may have gone a bit too far, I will try again tomorrow night now that I have the factory settings. I really don't want to pull the carby apart if I can help it. But we are looking at a 3 week turn around if I put in to the mower shop as we are in the middle of summer. thanks again!
Hi Joe, I have not fixed the brushcutter yet, but while attempting to remove the carburettor, I noticed that the fuel line was cracked, in fact it is totally shot. So it is a definite problem. Tomorrow, I will purchase some more hose and hopefully find time to fit it. I'll keep you posted! Thanks again!
Hello Again, I pulled the carby off this afternoon and discovered that the fuel line had a very bad crack. I will try and purchase some new hose and fit it tomorrow. I will keep you posted. Thanks again for your advice! Darryl
Thank you for your help and advice, I think the broken fuel line may have been the problem! Darryl
Hi Joe, I purchased some new fuel hose to replace the cracked/broken fuel line and put humpty together again and I give it a good run, almost a full tank on some very thick grass and all is well. You know if it wasn't for the advice I received, I would not have dug deeper to find that it was only a bad fuel line. Thank you for your help! p.s. I am glad that I did not have to pull the carby apart! Thanks again, Darryl !
Hi again, I purchased some new fuel line to replace the cracked/broken one. I put humpty together again and give it a good run, almost a full tank of fuel on some very thick grass and all is well! If it wasn't for the support that I received from this website and gurus like yourself, I would not have dug deeper to discover that it was only a simple thing like a bad fuel hose! Thank you once again for giving me the confidence to go further. Darryl
