There's no cold water Some washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following.

  • Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.

  • Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.

  • Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.

Maytag Atlantis Washer - no cold water

Check the solenoid valves. If it's connected to hard water, the minerals build up inside and won't let the internal plunger move.

My washer only lets a trickle of warm water in even on the hot cold setting. the cold water comes in fine. no kink in the inlet hose. Is there a control part for this?

You need to replace the "water inlet valve" on the machine. I would need the model number located under the lid to be able to direct you to the part.

Cold water rinse doesn't come in very hard. Just a trickle. Warm works fine. I just had the water shut off due to a water main break which is now fixed and water is back on. Warm wash fills fine. Cold...

Remove the cold water hose and check the screens for debris and clean. Also look inside the water inlet valve where the hose connects there should be a screen in there remove and clean. If this doesn't fix it the water inlet valve will need replacing. Here is a link that will walk you thru cleaning and inspecting the valve http://appliancehelponline.com/topwaterinletvideo.html

I have the washer on cold water, but it runs warm, stops, trickles, then comes out warm again, stops, trickles, then warm again ect.On the rinse cycle it will only trickle out.

The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine.
No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. You can test a fill valve live for 120 volts, power to a fill valve coil and no fill = a bad fill valve. You can also test the coils for continuity, no continuity = a bad fill valve. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fill valve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves can also from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut off the fill valves to stop the water from filling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replace it.

Water barely trickles out for rinse cycle

Hello,

It sounds like you have some buildup in the cold water valve screen. Where the hose connects to the washer there should be a screen inside the valve. Remove the cold water hose from the washer and clear any debri on the valve screen.

If this doesn't fix the slow cold water flow then you will have to replace the whole water valve assembly. The water valve is the piece that the hoses connect too and supply water to the washer.

If you have anymore questions about this please ask. I will be more than happy to help you out.

Thanks
