If self check keeps going after 1 minute unplug machine and open top cover remove 4 screws that hold the recorder top cover remove disk reinsert screws and plug in see what happens.

Most of the time a small scratch or fingerprint on recorded disk cause these units to lock up

Can not play dvd keeps self-checking what do i do

Sounds very much like a power supply issue. If the machine stays in self-check mode or shuts down without allowing a single disc to load and record/play, then you can suspect IC1 in the PSU (STRG6353 or similar). The easiest way to confirm this is by measuring the closest voltage rail (around 12V) to this device with a oscilloscope (a digital voltmeter is too slow). If it is too low or varies, then IC1 is the prime candidate. Check other components in the PSU as well, just to be sure there are no leaky components which may cause further trouble later on.

You can also update the firmware for this model, unless it has already been done.

I have a Manitowoc s-450 with a AuCS-SI installed and it is set to not clean at this time. The machine is stuck in cleaning mode and is partially refrigerating. I disconnected the AuCS and it works fine....

When a Manitowoc goes into clean mode,It stays in clean mode until it finishes. If you turn it off and then on again,it just keeps cleaning.Let it run in cleaning mode until it finishes

Our copier keeps turning itself off by its self

This code deals with the fuser unit. This is the section that heats up. To be safe you need to call a local canon dealer to come by and check the copier. Once the copier gives this code you can not reset it unless you go into the service mode to reset it.

Just connected monitor won't come out of self check

Make sure your cable is the right one, and that it's truly well-connected to the monitor. My monitor stays in self-check when it's not receiving a signal from the ol' computer.
