Are you trying to watch tv or use it for the computer? The input or source selection is on VGA at the moment which is the 15 pin input at the rear and it is expecting your computer to be attached. If you are using it with your computer you need to set the resolution on the computer to match the monitor, if you are not then switch the input to TV or whatever you have connected.
If you want to watch cable then switch the input through all the choices until you see a picture. Make sure the cable box is plugged in and powered on. The source or input button is below the number 9 on the remote, SOURCE: Press to select the signal
source, such as TV, AV, S-Video,
Component 1, Component 2 or VGA.

If you don't have a manual to tell you how to switch inputs you should find one here:

I plugged in a computer and changed the input to VGA and the TV went blank

It sounds like your tv is in sleep mode.

What are the settings for the computer? Make sure it is set for the vga output. If it is a laptop, this is usually done with a function (FN) key. On your settings screen you can set the resolution and which monitor you are using.

LG W2361V 23 Vga to HDMI Cable Not Working

You have a cable problem as no such thing as a VGA to HDMI cable exists.

HDMI is a didital signal and is thus not compatable with an anolog VGA signal. HDMI to DVI cables however do exist as both are digital signals.

Hope this helps.

Please check whether you are using a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) cable or VGA (Video Graphics Array) cable to the monitor. The monitor will adjust automatically to the requirements of the connected cable. From the question I think you had connected a DVI cable to the monitor.Make sure that there is no loose contact between the ports and the cable. Also make sure that the proper settings on the monitor are done for the DVI cable configuration.

Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

My Insignia tv keeps defauting to Video1 screen every minute!!!

Turn off your television. Try disconnecting all external signal sources (except the antenna or cable) from your television.Turn on the television and see if this resolves the problem. If it does then you may have a faulty cable connection to your television. Change out the cables one by one to find the bad cable and replace it. If this does not solve your problem. Turn off for a period of hours(This may allow your television set to reset itself) and test again. If you still have the same problem, Then you need to call customer service for servicing and technical advise. Call this number for service : 1-877-467-4289. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Screen is black except briefly blue upon power on or putting source on "VGA"

Your backlights power inverter board is what causes this prob. It is a Darfon V144-001.
