My ice maker was not dumping ice from the tray. I removed the ice maker and rinsed it with water. I allowed it to dry and reinstalled it and ice still would not dump. I did some research and found out they have a heater system that comes on right before ice gets dumped. so im assuming a bad ice maker. I removed it again let it sit over night and tried it again the next day. And now i have a new problem no water going into the ice tray. i checked everything harness and all. Does this mean i have a bad ice maker and a bad valve. Or does the bad ice maker stop water?

It sounds like the water inlet for your ice maker is now frozen. Blast a hair dryer around the waterinlet to the ice maker for 5-10 minutes, reconnect the ice-maker and you should hear the sweet sound of flowing water

Whirlpool ice maker quit.

If it's similar to my Samsung, mine did the same. There is a reset button at the front of the box which contains the ice cube tray. If you press it, the ice tray rotates to dump the cubes, then refills. Hope this helps.

My Whirlpool is not making ice cubes and the tray is dry, no water inside the ice maker but the water dispenser is working fine.

Most likely the water control valve on the rear of the refrigerator is defective on the ice maker side. Fill the ice maker with tap water and if it dumps the ice and does not refill then the water control valve is the reason. Usually an ice maker that still had cubes and will not dump the problem would be the ice maker. Hope that helped you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

It keeps crushing ice even though I have followed all directions for cubes

THe crusher is stuck. With small chunks of ice. Remove it dump all Ice and allow to thaw or rinse with water, dry and reinstall. Shut the Ice Make head off (lift the wire bail) so ice will not drop in the floor of the freezer. turn back on when all is back together.

    Ice cube dispenser not working

I had this problem. The root cause was that mineral deposits had built up in the ice cube tray. The ice would not "dump"... but stayed in the tray after the dump cycle. I did not catch it quickly and eventually the plastic frame broke. That was easily replaced. Inspect the ice tray to see that all cube surfaces are smooth. If there are mineral deposits, they need to be removed. Do NOT scrub with anything abraisive or you will ruin the tray. As you are looking straight on at the Ice maker, with the bin out, depress the small black retangular tab. The tray assembly will come apart to remove the tray. Rinse the tray, then fill with warm vinegar. Let it soak. You may scrub with soft cloth, finger or fingernail to remove deposits. Replace the tray and you should be in business.
