This is likely a problem with your TCON circuit board inside the back of the tv.

The TCon board usually has 2 very thin ribbon like cables running from connectors on the board to the actual LCD screen panel. Each ribbon controls one half of the screen. If you are lucky, it's possible one of the ribbons came loose or is not making proper electrical contact with the connector on the TCON board.

If your tv is out of warranty and you are comfortable working safely with electronics then you may be able to repair this yourself with a few hours of screwdriver work. The ribbons may just need to be reseated in the little flip up connectors, or you may have to clean the copper at the tips of the ribbons gently with a pencil eraser to remove any oxidation.

If you are unlucky enough to have a bad TCON board or are not comfortable disassembling your tv yourself then you can bring it in to the shop and they can probably repair it for less than $150.

Good luck and please post back if this helps and with how you make out.

It could be a hardware problem. Half a screen not working doesn't sound good to me. I have a PaperWhite Kindle. I had another Kindle I dropped and it came up like yours, with half a screen showing the picture and the other half the screen showing white. It's now a paper weight.

You can try a total reboot by holding down the power button for about twenty seconds. Mine hangs up every couple months and the touch screen stops responding and the reboot by holding down the power button for about twenty seconds fixes it every time. It takes a few minutes. You have to sit there and watch the slow progress bar fill in as it goes through the re-boot process.

If this doesn't work, you might try removing the back cover, disconnecting the battery. Letting it set for minute or so and then reconnect the battery, re-install the back cover and try a normal short-power button push first and if nothing happens, follow it with the long power button push.

Only half of the screen is working

Most likely it is the screen that is bad and it probably can't be fixed however it is worth opening up the TV and getting to the T-CON board, wwhich drives the LCD display.

The T-Con is located at the top middle of the TV looking from the back and it's usually covered by a shield cover.

You can tell it easily by its location and the large cable that goes to it from the main board.

The board's ID should be 4046HSC4LV3.3 (make sure to verify that once you get to it!) and it should look like this:

What you are looking for is the white cable that goes out from one of the two connectors at the top of the cable and goes into the LCD display.

I'd recommend pulling out the one that's on the side of the half that does not work and inspecting it for burns.

You may also swap it with the other.

The odds of succeeding are low, even if it is burned and you replace it, but a few times I was able to fix a display like that.

SyncMaster 932B blinks, then screen goes black

Check all the connections and if they are all right and tight then the monitor is probably shot. The good news is that it can be repaired. It's usually around $50.00 to $80.00 to fix. Good luck!

Hi, I have dell inspiron 640m laptop. It worked properly.By mistake it was broken. From there i am able to see properly only half of the screen and half of the screen is blue.Is this only screen problem or...

If you only have half of the screen first thing you need to do is go to BIOS page by pressing F2 during start-up once you see the BIG Dell logo. F2 let's you enter the BIOS if you can still see only half of the screen then that is indeed a hardware failure meaning you need to replace the LCD only otherwise go to safe mode if you can see everything here normally except for everything here is BIG then that means you just have a software issue and you need to uninstall the driver for the video card and then restart the system. After restart reinstall the driver for the video card and then restart again by this time you should have a normal screen and issue is fix. Reply if everything goes as plan aiyt.

i still got a lot on my sleeves to fix your issue.
