The cleaning fluid "pump" is actually a small Mabuchi 6V DC motor that uses two small plastic spur gears in mesh to "pump" the fluid up a tube into the cleaning reservoir. Mine has died also and I cannot find a replacement motor. The cheapest I have found the base is here: http://www.electricshaverstore.com/get_item_scc1_braun-syncro-clean-charge.htm Good luck, Lynn Livingston

OK, Remove shaver from cleaning base. Raise top cover as if you are going to replace the cleaning cartridge. Now, look into the cleaning cup where you put the shaver into. You will notice a small hole on the bottom left side. With a Q-tip ,clean out the beard hair from the hole.If you have a model 5301 which is located on the bottom of the base, you should be able to push the Q-tip all the way through the hole. This will allow the liquid to flow back down into the cartridge. This is whats causing the overflow.

Dear Freddofrog,
please ensure you have removed the plastic plugs from the cleaning fluid container. If you have removed these i would suggest that the fluid contaner is faulty, your place of purchase should exchange this for you with no problem.
