This button is held down by a sping and catch. It is released by the stop/eject button. Most likely cause is dirt or dry grease in the mechanism, either keeping the stop button down or keeping the play button from being fully depressed. That part of the transcriber rarely fails mechanically.

The R930 is an electro mechanical device. The switch need to be serviced. Cost, probably 65.00.

How to turn off the device

To shut down your iPod Classic, simply hold down the center button and the play button at the same time until the display shuts off.

To ensure that it stays shut down, flip the "hold" switch to disable button input.

Play button and fast forward will not stay down, click down momentarily but then click off again--- fast rewind works perfectly

No Idea- you need to state a model and brand to get an answer. Could be broken keys if it is a piano type button cassette deck.

Buttons Play or Play&Record will not stay gown

There is a feature, in a cassette recorder, when a cassette is "locked" to prevent it from erasure or record, if you break out a little notch on the back of the cassette When this is done, you can't press the record button. Perhaps something connected to that feature is blocking your deck. If the back pice of plastic left of the hole, is gone, the cassette is "write protected".
Look inside to see the "pal" that is in the deck.
Or perhaps your deck has a relais that should hold the button down, but it does not get any power? 6f4f166c-a584-4d29-9da6-e149a704708f.jpg

The play, rewind switches won't stay down

I have advised people before that replacing belts is not the only answer and sometimes people that are not experienced can upset some part of the deck without knowing it. We don't yet know the model or brand of the unit and from the description this kind of points to a Piano key or lever key type deck. I could also be a cam system deck. This complaint of buttons not staying down would not apply to a tack switch or solenoid type transport.
Like Jerry says a visit to a good Tech is the answer. I have been doing tape decks for 40 years and have worked at Sony and Teac service shops. If you need my help let me know. I am near Chicago.

Oops I dont know what the deck number is, but my play button does not stay engaged when pressed down. All the other buttons (reverse, fast forward etc) all work properly. This is a single cassette deck,...

The button not staying down may mean a key is broken so we need to know the model number to be able to determine if a part is available.
I still have some keys for the Teac CX series.

My ipod wont stay charged

This may not be the answer you are looking for but your I pod might not be fully charged, meaning that you are not plugging it in the computer/docking system long enough.( it takes much longer than 15 minutes to charge the battery. So you might want to plug it in/dock it over night) Or you may be playing a game that uses a lot of MB/GB so it kills the battery. And make sure that you press the play/pause button down for at least five seconds before switching the little switch at the top of your I pod. If you don't press the play/pause button for five seconds and just switch the switch at the top a little lock will appear on the left corner meaning you need to hold the play/pause button down for five seconds then the i pod screen goes black at that time flick the switch at the top off. -hope it helps owner of i pod nano and I pod touch.

1, put disc into player
2, shut down player with src button
3, reboot player using src button and hold in play/pause button untill disc plays unregioned disc

This should make it multiregion but it won't stay multiregion i don't think. I can't find a pernament code anywhere for this player and i don't think one exists and i think you'll just have to use this everytime you want to play a different region disk. Sorry i couldn't help more.
