My friend has a blackberry, he dropped it last night and he said it worked for a hour then it turned white, i took the battery out, no red light popped up no white screen or anything, i plug it into the charger & try to turn it on, nothing happens... i just plugged it into my computer, the rd light comes on the the white screen comes on again, anything he can do? thats not getting a new phone.? thanks

It appears the screen has packed up,you need to take it to a repair shop.

First, to check if there is water damage inside the phone, you can check the water mark sticker.
When you take the back piece off your phone, on the left of the battery inside a rectangle shaped cut-out in the plastic, you will see a little square. If it is red/pink this means there is definitely water damage, if its white then no water has reached that part of your phone. Unfortunately if its turned red or pink Blackberry will not repair it free of charge.
That being said, you can try completely submerging your phone in a bowl of rice. This will draw the moisture out and hopefully get your phone in working condition again, this has worked for myself and many friends.

The BlackBerry has the feature on auto-start. When you insert the Battery, the device will automatically boot-up. It'll be showing an hour glass while loading the settings. But if it is longing for more than 10 minutes, there might be some error in the OS. It's better to contact a near-by authorised Service Center.

If your BlackBerry gets covered in water, act fast and rationally, and you may be able to save your device.
1. DO NOT TRY TO TURN IT ON
2. Pull out the battery.
3. Please your device and battery into a bowl of uncooked rice to absorb any moisture.
4. Please it in a warm, dry place where it can receive direct sunlight.
5. Be patient. It is recommended that you leave it in there for at least 48 hours.
6. After 48 hours, put the battery back in and power on.

I have the same problem with my Blackberry 8120, died this morning, will not switch on, no red light, no charging light, completely dead... my computer does not recognise the blackberry at all so cant install any new software.. plus I need to recover all the information that is on the handheld... please help if you can....

You may have gotten the battery wet - either through direct contact with liquid or condensation. Open the back cover and check to see if the little white sticker has turned pinkesh/red.

Take it to a cell phone place and let them try a new battery.. My wife was talking on hers in a light drizzle, it shorted everything out one tiny tiny drop. The red light came on, never to work again, once the screen shorts out for a split second it is dead.If the battery shows red x's on the bottom or behind the battery you find a red x you can be sure the screen is shorted out.

That means no battery, your lucky. Just go to a phone place and try a new battery. I am assuming you already took the battery out and tried reinserting it. Does the battery have red xx's on the bottom, if so it probably fell on grass and the moisture got to the battery some how.

the solution for this problem is charge one hour with your blackberrycharger and make sure that you are not connecting to your pc for charging.then switchon the handset

if you have a screwdriver, you can open the phone up and check if it is still dry or wet and also look to see if there are any burnout marks (greeny-blue or white).air it for an hour or few and put it back together. try again. is it pos 5 or pos 6 bit. or is it tork 5 or 6, at jay=car or dicks or bunnings if you don't need advice on it.
