I have installed a SATA SH-S223C on a computer with Windows XP. But now when I try to boot the computer, it freezes on the Windows boot screen until I open the CD tray. Then it will continue on to the Welcome screen ok. Any suggestions?

Do you have any CD in the tray, first would be to remove the disc if present as boot from CD would be first option in BIOS.
Get into the BIOS by pressing the appropriate key some systems it is the DEL key or F2. In bios select Advanced Bios Features.

I have installed a SATA - vinayak_nair_12.jpg
Select Advanced Bios Features
Hard Disk boot priority,

Select "Bootable add in cards" with keyboard and keep pressing + until it is in the first location.

I have installed a SATA - vinayak_nair_14.jpgimages/vinayak_nair_14.jpg" alt="vinayak_nair_14.jpg" class="h_mi" />

Set first boot device as Hard Disk and then save and exit BIOS.
F10 is shortcut to do this.

If you need to boot from CD next time just change first boot device to CDROM.

Asus motherboard problems Installed a new F2A55-MLK series to replace old ASUS board. Running XP and when I install the HDD it boots until the starting windows screen and get blue screen Asus tech no help.

go into the BIOS setup and find settings for SATA operation or something similar. the available options should be
1. Native SATA/IDE
2. AHCI supported
3. RAID
windows xp was installed with SATA support but requires special drivers for AHCI or RAID, so you should set your computer's SATA operation to native or IDE in order to solve the problem.
Additional tip:
next time you manage to boot to windows, boot to safe mode (boot while pressing F8), so you can review if all the drivers are well installed in device manager.

Hi there, have a strange problem with a brand new DVD SAMSUNG SH-S223C. Installed a few days ago and running latest SB05 firmware (Even I reinstalled twice this firmware). Now on boot with my WIN XP PRO...

Start up BIOS and perhaps change default boot drive to your hard drive because i think your default boot up device is the dvd drive.... try to put that last on the list... F2 should get you to BIOS if not try F8 Just keep tapping right at beginning of startup before the logo screen shows. Once in BIOS go to boot menu and change default device :) Hope that works for you

My Computer will turn on and go to the windows XP loading screen with the blue bars and will won't load up, it rarely does but when it gets to the log on user screen it freezes

Right after your POST screen goes off, before you get to Windows starting, try pushing the F8 key several times until you get the Windows boot options. Then try 'last known good configuration".
If that doesn't work, you can boot from the Windows installation disk and try to repair your Windows installation.Let me know what happens.
And good or bad, please rate my post?

Windows XP SP2 will not boot after installing new SATA hard drive

Your system thinks the "second" drive has precedence over the first ( your boot drive ) try switching the SATA cables between the two drives. There also might be a BIOS setting under Boot Order, sometimes you have to drill down to get to it for a particular drive.
