How can I change the language on screen? i dont understand the extrange languge on it to bring it back to english, thanks

So you've got that brand new shiny TomTom, turned it on, and .... OOPS! ... somehow you've selected the wrong language. Suddenly the entire interface is (literally) in some foreign language and you can't figure out how to get back to English. This has happened to quite a few people recently, so here is a short tutorial on how to get back to US English.TomTom Main MenuIf the device is currently turned on and you are anywhere but the primary map/driving view, it might be helpful to turn the device off. Then you can turn it back on to get yourself to the map/driving view. Now click anywhere on the map to take you to the Main Menu. Depending on the language you picked and your device, it should look something like the image on the right. Click on the wrench icon (highlighted in red here) which will take you to the 'Change Preferences' menu.TomTom Change LanguageNow that you are in the Change Preferences menu, keep tapping on the right arrow button to cycle through the menu until you see an icon with three flags on it. How do i change my tom tom one from spanish back to english

Do you want to change the language of the VOICE or the WORDS IN THE SCREEN? These two are independent from each other and need to be set up by separate.

1) To change the VOICE, you need to download an ENGLISH VOICE or have it in your GPS already.
a) Start TomTom Home on your computer.
b) Plug in the TomTom dock to a USB port on your computer and plug in your TomTom GPS on the dock
c) Turn on the GPS and when asked "connect to computer" answer "yes" (you may not be asked if you want to connect; TomTom Home amy detect your GPS and connect to it automatically). If your GPS is not connecting to TomTom Home, turn the GPS off, turn it upside down and press the "reset" button for 7 seconds, place the GPS back on the dock and turn it on. It should automatically connect to TomTom Home now.
d) On the TomTom Home software, click on the icon labeled "Add Traffic, Voice, cameras..."
e) Click on the icon labeled "voices"
f) Click on the icon labeled "computer voices"
g) Click on any of the voices that says "English" on the second ("language") column; download and install the voice
h) Go to the TomTom Home top menu and under "DEVICE" choose "DISCONNECT DEVICE". Wait a few seconds until the GPS communication with the computer is broken and the GPS restarts. You don't need the computer anymore for now

YOU ARE DONE SETTING UP A NEW VOICE

2) To change the LANGUAGE of the WRITTEN DIRECTIONS on the screen:
a) On your TomTom GPS screen, tap on the middle of the screen to bring the MAIN MENU on
b) Tap on the PREFERENCES icon
c) Tap on the RIGHT ARROW 7 times or until you see an icon labeled "CHANGE LANGUAGE".
d) Using the UO and DOWN arrows on the GPS screen, scroll up or down untill you see the langauges you're looking for. You'll get a screen with several languages available, including "English UK" and "English US"
d) Touch on the screen you want. The screen will automatically go back to the previous menu screen that shows the "CHANGE LANGUAGE" icon. Touch the "DONE" button.

YOU ARE ALL DONE. Now, your VOICE and all WRITTEN DIRECTIONS should be in ENGLISH.

Tap the screen to bring up the Main menu.
Tap Settings, Options, or Change Preferences (Depending on what model you have).
Tap the arrow in the bottom on the left or right until you see the Change language button. Tap Change language.
Tap on a language to select it. We have just turned on - 1381_10_uk.gifuploads/images/1381_10_uk.gif" alt="1381_10_uk.gif" class="h_mi" />

Follow the instructions on the screen to confirm your language selection and choose a voice.

u can , simple ,touch the display , scroll until you see a whrence , press the whrence , scroll until you see the a flag button , press the button and you should see the languages availble

Language

Tap the Change preference icon. It is the one with the blue wrench to the left of thae orange arrow on the top picture. Once you are in change preferences, use the right arrow to explore the options. Find the icon that is shown on the next picture (the Flags). Use the Up and down arrows that will show to the right of the list of languages to select the language you want.
