This is just a shot in the dark but it's possible that your power supply uses a full wave rectifying bridge made up of 4 diodes to convert the AC to DC. Check these diodes out to make sure they're not shorts or opens. You can use an ohm meter. They should look like a low resistance from their anode which is the + terminal to their cathode which is the - terminal and a high resistance the other way around. If your power supply has a little starter relay in it you can also check to see if the relay coil has been blown. It should look like a low value resistor. Unsolder and replace anything that doesn't pass these tests.

Apparently this is a known problem with flat panel TVs made a few years ago due to bad capacitors in the power supply. This same problem appeared in computer mother boards at about the same time so that the capacitors went open or shorted causing problems. There is videos on You Tube that addresses this problem see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZccykxrtX9g as a starting point and look around for other repairs

Good fixes. Sometimes the connector for the cables running from the LCD to the T-CON do not make good contact. You might try moving them around to see if it affects the picture. You can even carefully disconnect and reconnect them.
I have come across one person that fixed a display by resoldering as many joints as possible on the main board.
When these boards are made they use a wave solderer and with the new RoHs standards and shoddy workmanship a lot of 'cold joints' are developing. If you do this, use RoHs compliant solder.

Hello
Check the backlight inverter and bulb. If inverter board has some trouble, this type of fault will occur to sharp LCD tv. Try to increase the brightness of the screen. If cannot, backlight should be checked. OK.
