If this problem affects exactly half the screen, then there is likely a problem with your TCON circuit board inside the back of the tv.
The TCon board usually has 2 very thin ribbon like cables running from connectors on the board to the actual LCD screen panel. Each ribbon controls one half of the screen. If you are lucky, it's possible one of the ribbons came loose or is not making proper electrical contact with the connector on the TCON board.
If your tv is out of warranty and you are comfortable working safely with electronics then you may be able to repair this yourself with a few hours of screwdriver work. The ribbons may just need to be reseated in the little flip up connectors, or you may have to clean the copper at the tips of the ribbons gently with a pencil eraser to remove any oxidation.
If you are unlucky enough to have a bad TCON board or are not comfortable disassembling your tv yourself then you can bring it in to the shop and they can probably repair it for less than $150.
Good luck and please post back with how you are making out.
