I have a remington kerosene heater rem110. i will run a minutes and shuts off. any suggestion as to why?

nancy_holton,

All these type heaters (Reddy, All Pro, Remington and Master heat) were made by DESA international.

I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4124129-yearly_maintenance_reddy_heaters which explains this common problem, where to get the repair parts and how to do the repair.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating. Please consider a testimonial. Thank you.

Can you use diesel instead of kerosene in ready heaters?

No - diesel fuel is NOT the same as kerosene. Kerosene is #1, regular diesel is #2. They are not interchangeable.

You said the fan blows but does it light? Diesel may have gummed up the nozzle or pump or fuel line.

Can you burn diesel fuel

Hi, If this heater is the Reddy 170,000 b.t.u. heater, model # 170t professional series, then yes you can.It is a multi-fuel heater. Fuels it can use are Kerosene, JP8, Jet A fuel, 1&2 Diesel fuel, and 1&2 fuel oil. It must be this model 170T.
Sincerely,

Do i need to replace filter if i have been using kerosene and want to switch to diesel

No, the kerosene is number 1 fuel oil and Diesel is number 2. No.2 is a heavier fuel with more BTU's than the kerosene. After you have burned the diesel for awhile, you may want to change the filter. If you have trouble getting the diesel to burn, mix it with 25% kerosene and it will flow and go through the nozzle easier
