Hi Have you tried to go into your cmos settings and enable the settings to detect your cd rom You should be able to use a external cd rom connected through your USB port to load and re-install windows and your drivers if you have the motherboard cd. The problem is your limited in your options to work from the hard drive but a disk also gives you the option to repair the filing system and replace missing files.
The problem with installing windows on one pc and it not working on another pc is the motherboards are not compatible, and the configuration has to be similar or the same so the hard drive can boot up and communicate between the hardware and software.
Your options are use a CD rom, change your MB or google your problem and hope someone else was able to resolve this issue.
The video doesn't show what you describe. The video shows that Windows is loading. Try booting in safe mode. Here's how:
Power up the machine. When the Dell logo appears, start tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears amd choose "Windows Safe Mode." Once windows starts, backup your data just in case. Then try to determine what it was you did last that may have caused the problem. Then try to start normally.
Could be bad ram, hard drive or possibly a bad display panel or video card.Try using different ram and removing the hard drive then try it.Also, connect it to an external display and see if it shows video or not.If after trying these things it still isn't showing let me know and i'll try to help more.
After hitting the power button on your computer, throw it into "BOOT MODE" and select your hard drive. See if this helps your computer load. If so, you will have to go into your BIOS Setup and make your current hard drive your Primary Boot Device.
If this doesn't help, load your restore disc and check your drive for errors.
Your problem shouldn't be anything more than a few registry errors OR a boot problem.
try this first. click on my computer, then go to control panel. you'll come to system; click on it. then click on hardware. you click on device manager. your list of drivers will then appear. anything with a yellow question mark means a missing drive. click on it, and then click re-install/update driver. it will search the web for the right driver. I believe your model uses a realteck 97; I may be wrong. If the download doesn't work, then go to dell.com, they have drivers listed for all of their older units. hope that helps.
Try turning off the player and then back on again. The battery status should update and show full charge.
Restart your PC and reconnect the player and it should appear again.
Simply pulling out the USB cable can cause a communication error, so it's always best to use the 'Eject USB device' option. When you want to disconnect, the player will be listed as an external hard drive when you open up 'My Computer', right click on the drive and select 'Eject'.
Go into system and roll back driver. If this doesn't work, go into hardware and remove it. Restart pc. It should try to reinstall. It may ask for driver. Have it ready.
1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD drive, and then restart the computer. 2.Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted. 3.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console. 4.Press 1 (One) to select windows XP and then hit enter. 5.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER. 6.At the command prompt, Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd and then press ENTER. 7.If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully. 8.If the Bootrec.exe tool cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order in which they are presented. Press ENTER after each command. Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
