I have a 50 inch samsung plasma tv. I powered it on and heard a pop..sounded like someone squeezed a flimsy water bottle. Then the display just showed a pinkish color but the sound works perfect.

Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

I have the same problem with my 50' plasma samsung tv. About two weeks ago I was watching tv I left the room to use the restroom and when I came back the tv was making a buzzing sound and I quickly turned...

When you said "huge crack on the inside" you mean the screen? if so let me tell you that the only way to fix it, is replacing the screen, really expensive, like $800-1000 just parts.
My recomendation is that you pick up the phone and play it hard with Samsung, they dont want to fix it under warranty because 90% of broken screens are due to End User fault.
