Your problem has many fixes depending on how you use your radio, but first think of were you are transmitting from a van or car is literally a big metal box so the squelch minimum will increase a bit if your antenna is inside the van. but if you use/get the UHF-DC adapter for this radio it will alow you to mount a exturnal antenna on the outside of the van, the other possibility is a bad placement of the antenna try changing its location. however if the noise increases as you excelarate then you might need a in line DC Noise Filter.

Can only get frequency numbers not channel numbers 75-822

Press and hold the "F" button for about 10 seconds and the display should change back to the channel.

Need a repeater for 75-822 Portable/Mobile CB

there are no repeaters for CB radios, they are not legal, nor Are CB's capable of using them.

I just installed my midland 1001z and it works like half of the time. and then the other time it is just static just bought a power filter so idk if that is going to help or not any idea what else could be...

  • Hi, I can help.

  • If you rig is working part of the time and then out of the blue is "staticky" then I would suggest that you check the antenna connector on the back of your CB. Also check the connector on the coax going into the radio and also check the coax where it leaves the inside of your car and see if the outside of the coax is pinched or worn.

  • Static out of no where is a good sign somehow your antenna is failing. You could also be picking up some bad skip which will raise the needle on your CB and cause a lot of loud static out of no where.

  • Static part of the time and not others is not really a symptom of car interference (even with a hybrid) so the filter won't really serve in that aspect but it will quiet other noises so it is not a waste by any means.

  • if you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

what time of day are we talking here? usually skip is so heavy from 0800 until 1600 that no radio has a chance of transmitting or receiving. If you turn the squelch the other way what does it do?

I have a midland 1001z cb radio with a magnetic mount attenna by cobra. When I transmit receivers are getting a lot of squealing. Before I bought the midland i had a radio shack cb which worked find.

is this same antenna as before. you should always check the SWR's to see if set correctly.. other than that. bad grounds, bad microphone can make any radio squeal..

Need to tune and peak my midland 1000 cb

sounds like a problem to me . I have one that was in fair shape that had the same symptoms , I pounded the crop out of it with a hammer and now it doesn't recieve anything . You can't find a service manual for it ,unless midland will sell you one but don't hold your breath . Remember a 26 oz. hammer works good but not the radio.
