Just set up RX-A700 two things seem wrong. 1. HDMI 1 won't show video if HDMI is plugged in, once plug on HDMI is removed from receiver HDMI 1 works perfectly. 2. HDMI output needs to be held tight or else video is lost.. not audio

Sounds to me like a bad HDMI cable. Just replace it.
If HDMI still wont show, move to another HDMI port. But based on having to hold HDMI cable with hand to steady the connection, it is either a bad HDMI cable, or a bad HDMI port on the receiver. Good luck

Hmdi input has lost audio

several things could cause that:
1. hdmi cable is no good.
2. receiver and TV are not fully compatible. I noticed few times that philips tvs had problems with denon receivers. Some times you need o unplug hdmi cable and plug it in back to get sound.
3. firmware issue. depends on model of your receiver there could be a software upgrade to resolve the problem.
4. somebody (kids) accidentally pressed some buttons and reassigned video input for that video source (video select button on a remote control), etc. Resetting the receiver usually helps.
5 Receiver (hdmi board is no good) or TV is no good.
so next time when it happens check video source, video input assign then try to swap hdmi cable and TV

My Yamaha RXV663 does not produce sound from the cable box. In fact, when I touch the HDMI cable between the cable box and the receiver, I feel a slight voltage tingling my hand. I realize that can't be...

Are you plugging this in to the correct plug on your receive and from your cable box? It should be HDMI OUT on your cable box, and one of the HDMI Inputs on your receiver. Then there should be a main HDMI cable going in to your television from the main HDMI OUT on your receiver to the television HDMI In.
Also, make sure the receiver is plugged in. Not on, but plugged in, because that is your ground. If all of these conditions are satisfied, there may be an issue with your cable box or the receiver.

I have just brought a rx-v367 av reciever and have connected it to my tv/ speakers. speakers work fine when testing set up. however there is no sound coming out when connected to tv. also it keeps coming...

Hi, Yamaha audio-video receivers are equipped with a variety of connecting jacks for hooking up different types of electronic equipment. Component AV cables are typically used for hooking up the receiver to a cable TV box. Component cables can also be used to connect the Yamaha receiver to an HDTV, although a High Definition Media Interface (HDMI) cable offers a simpler connection if the receiver is equipped with HDMI (all HDTV sets are equipped with the distinctive, six-sided HDMI jack). The connections should take less than five minutes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* 2 sets component AV cables
* HDMI cable

Check the back of the Yamaha receiver to determine if HDMI is available. The six-sided jack contains 19 holes set in three rows. If the receiver is equipped with an HDMI Out port, use an HDMI cable to connect to the TV by inserting the plug straight into the jack with the wider end turned upward.

Insert the red, green and blue plugs on a set of component AV cables into the Video Out jacks on the cable TV box, matching the plug colors to the jacks.

Connect the plugs on the other end to a set of Video In jacks on the back of the Yamaha receiver. Make a note of which jacks are used for the connection. Each set of jacks is labeled on the receiver.

Insert the audio plugs on the component cables into the Audio Out jacks on the cable box, using the white plug for the left channel and the red plug for the right.

Attach the plugs on the other end to the Audio In jacks on the Yamaha receiver.

Use a second set of component AV cables to connect from the AV Out jacks on the Yamaha to the AV In jacks on the HDTV only if an HDMI cable was not used.

How do I connect my Wii to my Yamaha RX-A700 receiver? I am running everything through my receiver....Is it just a matter of connecting color to color wires at rear of unit...ie AV5 input?

are you just trying to get the sound? Use a pair of audio in jacks like av5. (usually red and white inserts in jack and the color of the plug ends) if you have video switching and have hooked up a video out to your TV then you could also use a composite video connection (usually yellow insert in jack and yellow plug on wire) to send the picture to the TV. A higher signal source would be component (red, green & blue) or HDMI if your reciever has that level of signal swithing.(HDMI is audio and video in 1 cable)

Set up Wii with my yamaha rx-v563. Sound but no video using hdmi out to tv and component into receiver

I had the same problem and found you have to connect the yellow video cable directly to the TV. Am finding that the component cables plugged into the receiver are not delivering video through the HDMI out to the TV.
I have the same problem with plugging in a video camera to the V-Aux on the front of the receiver and still havent figured out how get the video to show up on the TV, so if you find something else out please post.

I have my PS3 plugged into my RX-V365 via HDMI then i have my RX-V365 plugged into my Sony Bravia, the problem is i get no Audio through the HDMI input on my Amp but it still comes through the TV how can i...

Run optical or digital coaxial from your PS3 to the receiver and HDMI from the PS3 directly to the TV. Your receiver's version of HDMI will not work, it's 1.1 and cannot be updated. That's the fix, if you want more info on HDMI problems google HDMI issues or problems and you will find thousands of posts and forums on this issue. Short answer though is, you either need a receiver with version 1.3b HDMI or run optical or digital coaxial for audio to your receiver. Hope this helps

I have HDMI cable from TV to RX-V365. HDMI from DVD player to RX-V365. HDMI from DirectTV receiver to RX-V365. Speakers attached. I can watch the TV and the DVD player... but the sound is still coming...

the RX-V365 cannot process the audio from the HDMI input. You will also need to connect a seperate audio input (either coaxial or optical) into the relevant input in the rear of the RX-V365

No video from RX-V863

This reciever might not upconvert component or composite to hdmi, which means if you have anything but hdmi hooked up you will not see it. Check your manual for what all the reciver will ouput.
