Not drying

Hi. When a dryer takes that long, check the entire length of the vent pipe for a partial clog from lint. Clean out the lint and the dryer should dry in just one cycle. Regarding the thump it most likely is a loose or bad roller. J.

It is not drying very well even on the very dry setting, why?

This may sound silly, but have you cleaned the dryer vent pipe from the dryer to the outside of your house? If that vent pipe is plugged, or partially plugged, your dryer will not dry properly. When I have had this problem in the past, the first thing I do is take the dryer out of the house and blow it out with a leaf blower. I put the leaf blower nozzle in the vent trap area, pack a towel around the blower nozzle, turn it on high and watch the lint fly. This ensure the dryer is cleaned out of any excess lint. Next, I take my leaf blower into the house, put the nozzle in the vent pipe (packing a towel around it also) and turn it on high and blow all the lint out of vent. I would caution you to check your piping the make sure all the vent pipe sections are secure. (The first time I blew out my vent pipe I had lint all over my basement due to poor connections in the tin piping. I promptly took aluminized duct tape and covered all of the seams.) My dryer always drys so much better after doing this simple procedure.

Makes thumping noise without input from receiver

So no wires plugged into it at all? Sounds like a cold solder joint on a board or a bad connection inside the amplifier.

My Kenmore Elite Dryer makes thumping noises when it is not running.

if it is not running and you hear noises. you may have a critter in the vent,or it may be flow reversal from another fan being used, oran outside door beingopened or shut. karl

Loud noise

OK, not too sure about this, but...about the only thing that will make a dryer make the sound you describe is a diconnected vent pipe or a problem with the vent fan. Check to see if the vent pipe is connected first.

Loud noise in dryer, and no air coming out the vent

Check these things:

Unplug or turn off the power to the dryer and turn off the gas (if equipped)

Pull out and examine the lint screen

Pull the dryer away from the wall (carefully), disconnect the vent pipe (the 4" tube) and look for plugging of the vent line (you said the vent dampers weren't open)

Lastly, it could be the vent blower - this is located inside the dryer annd accessible from the back with the back cover removed. The blower could simply be plugged or it could be defective.

Our dryer gets hot how ever it takes forever to dry a load of clothes and it makes a huge thumping noise; what could this possibly be.

the thumping is the drum not moving around right you need to change the felt the vent hose must be tight and stright up and out no slack moister needs to be blown out

Our Asko dryer (T720) has begun to make a heavy thumping noise, even if empty. (Sounds like a single wet & heavy object is in dryer)

Usually the drum rollers wear on that model making a thumping noise. The asko is a tough machine to work on. You may need a technician to service it.

LG ELECTRIC DRYER

Henry, its going to be 1 of 2 things. Check inside your drum, see if the vent in the rear has burning or discoloration around it. If it does, it sounds as if your vent is restricted causing the unit to overheat, so clean/fix/replace the venting and your support pulleys will need to be repalce ie flat spots from overheat. If there is no scoarching marks and you know its not the vent or heat issue, the drum seam may have parted causing the thump as every revolution is made.
