I have as EEE PC 1005HAB that is having the following problem: when I turn it on
it gets as far as the Windows XP startup page then goes to the page that says: We apologize for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change may have caused this etc...
It gives me the options of restarting Windows in safe mode, safe mode with Networking, safe mode with command prompt or last known good configuration.
No matter which one I choose, it keeps going through that same loop and I cannot
get Windows started.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!
I am unable to do scan because I cannot get to start up, so advice was not helpful.I am unable to do scan because I cannot get to start up, so advice

Try Safe mode. Then once you're in, run your virus checker. I like WebRoot. Delete your browser cache, clean up the disk. And email to yourself any files that you really want to keep so that you won't lose them in case the computer really goes down...
If that link doesn't work, go to www.asus.com, go to "Services" and then "Support", type in 1005HAB, it'll bring you to a link to the laptop. Click "Download", select "Windows XP" from the dropdown list and download and install the "Chipset Driver".
If you see the windows xp sign on boot then things are not that bad. If you do not see any bootup text such as memory count, bios check, any text...then you may have a break in your ribbon connector to your lcd bezel. if you can see any text try this: on bootup, hit F8 constantly until you get the startup menu, select last known good configuration, reboot.
if nothing except flashing, you will need servicing on your LCD.

I have an Asus Eee pc 2g surf. I inadvertently installed a bios 2008 upgrade and cannot
provide a password and cannot get beyond this page. Assus techs cannot provide it without an invoice and I have none as it was a gift. Any solution? I have taken out the battery, pressed f2, shift f10 ( which gets me to a screen "Atheos Boot Agent Configuration Agent" but not sure how this will help)
That's not supposed to be a problem... When you log in to your account windows loads your personal settings, as well as other programs, so it's supposed to take time. Windows probably has the theme set on default so it would show that while your settings are loading. That or you've got a virus... But... if you think your computer is unusually slow then that's a different problem. Try cleaning up your hard disk space and doing other sorts of stuff, like scanning for viruses to make it run faster.
