Hi. I can't get my advent netbook 4211-B to start up. It tells me Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. I have no windows instalation disk. It also shows me the following message File;/boot/bcd status; 0xc0000034 ino; An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data. Any help would be gratefully recieved.

You have to find a repair or installation disk then restore boot/bcd record on a hard drive.

SOURCE: Can ''Age of Empires'' run on a netbook via SD card?

you can if ur advent is running a windows format, if it is a linux based, you will need a linux copy, but yes you can! you have to install the game to the sd card, just like you would to a regular hdd. I have the original warcraft and warcraft 2 on an sd card, that i use with my ASUS mini....www.computereworld.com

SOURCE: windows boot manager file: /boot/bcd status:

Try check your hard disk with the other machine. Try running hard disk diagnostic test. If there's a problem with diagnostic test i suspect your hard disk is faulty. If you tried connecting with other machine then same problem, suspected also hard disk faulty. You might need to change it.

Windows boot manager failed to start - message - a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. I don't have a repair disc and it will not reboot. Thank You L

sorry to hear about the problem

I've used easyBCD to repair a windows boot manager, you may have to download it in another working machine, then burn it as bootable cd (using nero or similar image burning software), pop it in and when you start your computer make sure you have your cd/dvd drive unit as the first boot option so you go right into the cd ,

try the following instructions here to see if they may help, post back if you have further questions

repairing bootmanager

hope this helps

thank you!

When switcthing on my Advent netbook it comes up with the error message Windows Boot Manager Windows Falied to Start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1....

Hi sioban_bros,

Based on your situation. I suggest trying the following steps:

1. restart the computer and keep pressing F8; Use Last Known Good Configuration.

2.If the issue still occurs after that, I suggest testing if we can boot from a Windows XP disk. If so, please install Windows XP on another partition and access your important data.

3. After backing up those data, you can use Windows XP disk to format the drive and reinstall your preferred operating system.

4. However, if we cannot boot from a Windows XP disk, the issue can be caused by incorrect BIOS settings or damaged hardware. I recommend contacting your computer manufacturer to check BIOS and hardware.

To access the data on the drive, you can try to install the hard drive on another computer.

Hope it helps.

Please rate this solution if found useful.

Computer will not start.

Well it seems that there may have been wither a compatibility problem or a .dll file has been erased. I suggest removing the recently added device, or any new hardware added see if that changes anything or you may have to reinstall Windows.

Reboot an advent notebook to original settings

the computer shoulda came with a disk and that would be your operating system disk so put it in, then start your computer and if it doesnt boot to the disk, then hit F2 and change the boot options and make it boot from the disk and so when it does boot, then thats when u can reinstall windows back to factory settings but i dunno about advent notebooks. in HP tho, u can do it from the start menu cuz the reinstall settings are already on your computer so ya dont need the disk

I have an Advent 4211 Netbook. When I switch on windows XP will not start, just takes me to the screen which offers Safe Mode, normally etc - but whichever I try it just comes back to this screen

XP is corrupted, most likely caused by a massive infection. Try a Repair. Follow this instructions http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
If this doesn't work (or goes back they way it is now very quickly) use a Linux Live-CD to backup all your files and reformat your pc and do a clean install.
