I went to turn my sega dreamcast on and it came on for 30 seconds or so then it turned itself off while the "power" button was still down. I unplugged it and tried turning it off then on but it never powered up.. HELP?! :) thanks so much

Hi, I had the same problem with countless Dreamcast consols. After some extensive reasearch I finally found that the problem is a design fault. Aparrently it is down to the power connection on the consol. The two prongs that the power lead plugs into. They are nickle plated to regulate the power flow int the consol. But because it is only nikle plating, it wares off over time causing to much current to flow into the consol cuasing an inbuilt fail safe reset in the system to kick in to stop the system from burning out. The only solution that I can think of is to get the two prongs re-plated with nickle. Quite how much this would cost I dont know. And how long would the plating last??
